ok. here it goes.....i graduated from high school in june of 2006. did all 4 of my pre-reqs at city tech in fall of 2006 (A's in all of those classes thank God):D and a 126 on the NLN. completed first semester of clinicals at city tech in spring of 2007 with a B- and med calc with B+ along with child psych (A in that class) and a&p II (A-). then i moved upstate new york to sullivan countyand of course before i went i made sure i would be able to transfer into a nearby nursing program. went to sullivan county community college (sccc). in fall of 2007 took eng comp II (B+) sociology (A) statistics (A) and speach (A) while waiting for sring entry into 2nd semester of nursing bcuz apparrently they only run 1st and 3rd in the fall and 2nd and 4th in the spring. anyway come spring time of 2008 i complete my 2nd semster of nursing at sccc with a B. i also took developmental psych and got a B. in the summer of 2007 i took micro and got an A (i looooovvvve science). in the fall of 2008 i was less than 2 weeks from completing my 3rd semester of clinicals wen i had to withdraw for medical reasons. these same medical reasons lead me to move back to nyc.

ssoooooo....with that beinfg said............ i need to complete my 3rd and 4th semester of nursing so i can finally graduate pass my boards and work as an l&d nurse.but if i go back to sccc i would have a heck of a cummute AND i cant start until the end of august. my dilemma.... I want to go back to city tech.....do u all think they will have me back.? if so for this semester spring 2009? so far i have a meeting with prof forbes on january 21. last day of registration is jan 23 and the first day of class is the 26. do u think they will have me back and except my 2nd semester nursing credit from sccc cuz i dont want to do it again.

please let me know wat u think....and be honest... dont sugar coat it....give me the honest truth. it would be especially helpful if u curently go to city tech.

thankx to all who reply in advance

I'm a City Tech student, starting my 3rd semester this spring. I honestly cannot tell you for sure if they will allow you back or not. I'm just wondering why are you going to speak to Prof. Forbes? I had her last semester and although she's a really nice person and might be understanding of your situation, i don't think she has the power to accept you back into the program. You would have to speak to either prof. Richardson or prof. McGuinn about that.

I took a semester off because I got pregnant and I spoke to prof. McGuinn and she did let me go back without any problems. But it all depends on wether or not they have seats available. If they don't, they might put you on a waiting list. I got a very crappy clinical placement (they gave me KCHC, which was my last pick) but other than that, they took me back without any problems.

If i were you, i'd email prof. McGuinn and give her the heads up because I doubt that Forbes will be of much help. And you don't have a lot of time since classes start soon.

Good luck!

^^I agree with the above post. You need to speak to someone of higher position. I would even send Prof. McGuinn an email from now. I can't say whether or not they'll let you back in. But I really think you should send an email to McGuinn.

Why don't you just call the Nursing Program and find out?

i have an appointment with prof forbes because prof mcguinn and prof richardson are not taking any more appointments in january soooo inorder to be considered i have to take an appointment with whom ever is available. i actually called prof mcguinn and she said it wasnt a good time (happened to be the day of her final exam which she was on her way to give) so email her and she would get back to me. that was dec22. i emailed her that night and she hasnt gotten back to me since. sooo on jan 5th i called and was finally able to get prof richardson (i had been calling the both of them for days). any way, prof richardson told me that her and prof mcguinn was not gonna take any more appointments in january and she told me to make an appointmet with any prof and if they couldnt help me then they would be able to talk to her for assistance. and jan 21 was the earliest appointment with any professor. soo out ofthe few who were named as available i opted for prof forbes because i remember her kind nature and out of the bunch if their was someone who would go a little extra for a student i believe it would be her.

how did it go? why dont you just email mguinn again?

they were really crappy and disgusting. it didnt go well at all. they pretty much told me that i would have to test back in. redo second and third semester. and since i would be returning i would be one of the last to be placed in class therefore i may not get to take both of the 2nd semester course in one semester. i told them thanks but no thanks. i went home called my nursing school upstate in sullivan county and asked when did i have to have my paper work in for the fall of 09 3rd semester. they said i can come back this semester. makeup my missed exams for 3rd semester and go right into 4th semester. needless to say. thats what i did. i graduate in may 2009!!!!!!

Hi "orgo geek", I'm in a similar situation as yours and I also applied to Sullivan County. I'm still waiting on an acceptance letter. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could email me so I could ask u a few questions. Thanks in advance!

I really think that you shoul go back to sullivan because you are almost finish. Not only that nyc metro tend to take advantage of people just because they can. Good luck to you.

I don't know if you were accepted back in to City Tech's nursing program but if I were you I'd register somewhere else in the CUNY system. I just finished 3rd semester and out of 65 people may be less than 20 passed and will be going to 4th semester. They are making the program super-hard and everyone is upset. Sorry but this just happens to be true.

update...

ended up returning to sullivan where i finished up and graduated in may of '09.

i must say i was quite disgusted with the ppl at city tech......they were nothing short of nasty and dismissive.

thats fine by me....they actually wanted to not only NOT credit me for second semester. they wanted me to take their second semester classes but get this... there are two second semester classes and they wanted me to take one class one semester and then the other class the following semester. and they were not garanteeing me a seat. that is outlandish.

needless to say....i happily made my 2+ hrs treck to sullivan for my last semester. best miles i ever put on my car. it was definelty worth it.
