It depends on where you live. If you lived in Mid-Town, Upper East and Upper West, you were right about it! However, there are a lot of places that are not so expensive to live in New York. I could like to say an LPN with $25/hr plus benefits is pretty good, if he/she does not live in an expensive areas that I just mentioned.

Who would care about the benefits? I had to finish my AAS in Nursing and that was my priority! But don't miss the other statement I made; I said, " the LPN's in New York City make more than $21/hour with benefits..."

This is the whole point. When you read the posts right here, a lot of people are still in the state of denial. They hate the "R" word. When I asked them about the Canadian and British nurses, they intended to bring out something else. Well, what else I can say?

Thank you! As I said, I am strongly disagree with the foreign nurses especially in this economic crisis which will be over anyway. But I am also disagree with all those nurses who are irresponsible...I guess they have forgotten why they wanna to become nurses in the first place! In the ICU, Filipino nurses seem to be more reliable! If I see their names, I know they will show up and this matters the most!

This is an ICU, not Med/Surgical Unit! You can flow the ICU nurses into the Med/Surg Unit but it is hard to do it the other way around. If this happened in ICU, all other units had similar problems as well! It has been like that in that particular medical center. You stated that you only take two patient in the ICU, even if you are the only one to show up to work; well, I have never seen a nurse doing it! Nice to meet you! You are the first one to say so! Management knows the problem, none of them can fix it! If they could get the sick day accumulation off the contract, I am sure part of the problem will be solved!

Before I walked right into the unit, there was no way I could find out how many nurses would show up! You have to think about what I posted! Does it make any sense to you when 12 nurses are supposed to show up in the ICU and only a few did...Do I have to hold your hand and tell you what had caused the problem! The problem is the accumulation of the sick days and this is the reason some nurses are so abusive when it comes to sick days! It is common to see it especially the city owned hospital! They are "getting away from murder!"

No, I am not Filipino! I am so agree with you and foreign nurses will bring the wages down! But are you aware of that fact that Canadian and British nurses do not make as much as the the nurses in the U.S.? Don't you think they will bring down the wages as well! Of course, and again, I am totally against foreign nurses when it comes to my salary! But this is not the reason why I bring out the argument! My argument is based on justices which have not been served in this case!

All the nurses coming from UK and Canada I have been working with are whites! Perhaps I will have a chance to work with the non-whites in the future! I have been working with nurses from Africa as well, but I think Filipino nurses are out numbered others! Now, if you had the power to stop the Filipino nurses from coming aboard; then I am just wondering who would be the next target! The Filipino nurses have been coming to this country for a while, and only when Wall Street was going down hill and many lost health insurance then we start to blame the problem on others! Interesting...
