  1. take gen chem 1, it depends on your professor, if you are doing bad, read the book and do the homework problems. That's all my advice to you.
  2. Just go for medicine, nursing is a gpa killer; unless your experienced, it will drag down your gpa; and it will make it harder for you to go to med school. Why? because nursing is a new lanuage, you got critical thinking questions which sucks... but the professors are nice =/. I wanted Nursing as a stepping stone, to know what the hospital is like, and now it's killing me.
  3. I think this was my worse decision, I took ochem2 with nursing courses and now Im faiing nursing and getting a A- in organo 2. Had I known earlier, I would have drop of these 2 classes. Take Ochem if you want to be pre med.
  4. Im not doing so well, nursing is like a different way of testing, I know I have not gotten use to it yet. But I think I fail the second exam. I think I am depressed right now, I dont even want to study anymore. I dont think this happened to me before. I think I lose my drive to study =/. I need to find out the secret behind nursing.
  5. apply to different schools? like 10 different ones? maybe some out of state? dont limit your opinions. Also nursing requirements are like physician assistants, physical therapy, biology, pharmacy and other medical fields out there. She might want to change her major?
  6. "but really helped down the line in understanding pathophysiology. i still doodle benzene rings when i'm bored!! " ahaha, i draw ch2 bonds when im bored. anyways, im planning to take pathophysiology! hopefully it can help my biology a lot better in patho! im excited!
  7. Go to your introduction to biology book and you can see somewhat of a hexane with glucose molecules. If you look into lipids you can see a ch2 chain. Nurses need to know a lot about nutrition right? Carbohydrate is important and even nutritionist need organic chemistry. If you have a nursing book it explains that carbohydrates are Carbon with a OH and H group. However in organic chemistry it is a Carbon group with a OH and H in a fisher projection. Also you need to know how a medication is spell and know the IUPAC name of the drug in Medical math right? Im just in semester 1 of nursing right now, however I will tell you if there are more organic chem in semester 2 fliud and electrolytes.
  8. thank God I already got in, must be tough right now. I wish all these people applied for medical school instead.
  9. I just started Nursing school; I am currently using Fundamentals-Success-Applying-Critical-Thinking on the first chapter for communication; it works well. But I dont know how to tackle the questions. I just know I need to use maslow pyramid, and focus on the cilent .etc. I alway look at the rationale instead of critical thinking through it. Is this a bad thing? I want to do at least 1000 problems before I take the test. I will re do the chapter on communication... will my expiernce with reading the book set me up to be a better test taker that can answer similiar questions or am I doing the wrong thing? Should I start doing more problems?
  10. Anatomy at first, it's because my introduction to bio class did not prepare me for anatomy at all. I had some super scientist doing crazy stuff and the lab professor making us not miss one word. The second one would probably be math. Oh I took Chemistry and Stat with a 5 hour shift job every day... I only got a B in stats and a C in Chem, my first C. The chem was my worst failure and bes thing that happened to me, because I then went into organic chemistry and ace every test. Chem is a lot meaner than anatomy. Now I have enough confident to go take some general chem 2, physical chem ad physics.
  11. "poor clinical planning." what school has bad clinical planning? personally I hate clinical; I rather be down and married to my book.
  12. blah, Chemistry sucks, Organic chemistry rocks on for life! Actually, why not take chem 2? its all math.Just read the whole book and do the problem. Most nursing schools arent big on the chem =/. Anyways, good luck. Just for the note. I got a C in chem and got a A in organic chem. Im actually planning to take more chemistry courses in the future because Im in love with Organic.
  13. Hey, 3.25 is not that bad, I know someone with that GPA that got in.
