I'm trying to access that link, I can't seem to find the list that you are talking about from that link?
It's a PDF so you might need to download a PDF reader...if not, go to google and search for "UPENN Guide to Nursing Residency", it should be the first link / on the first page and you should be able to click "Quick View" to open it without a PDF reader.

I was lucky enough to get 2 job offers in New England after graduation. I focused on smaller hospitals which helped a lot I think. Also, some people may advise against cold calling, but that is what got me my job! So go for it! Good luck to everyone and keep at it. You WILL get a job eventually! :)

I still am jobless! I started applying in Jan and I graduated in May.
Yup, same here. I'm still working as a PCT, which has only helped me get at least 6 interviews within the hospital system where I work. I haven't heard from any other hospitals.

Well, I finally went on a second interview after having my resume out one month exactly. LTC again, but I was invited back for the second interview to meet and be intervieed by the post-acute wing team. It's kinda funny/awkward because I was interviewed the first time by a LPN, DON, 2 interns, RN, and Asst. CEO. Guess they take a team approach. So who knows I'll probably be interviewing for the CNA's, LPN, and other RN on the floor. I hope they don't bring up salary in front of my co-workers, although it certainly was not discussed in the first interview. The hours are miniscule monthly, but they're looking to converting to 12's by the time my probation would be over so maybe then they'd give a salary increase and I'd get more hrs too. Well, wish me luck!

I actually had a job in line 2 months before passing my boards.
It would have been nice to have had a job lined up at my home hospital where I did my clinicals for school except I couldn't wait to graduate so I didn't have to drive 100 miles a day anymore! Yup...it's 100 miles from where I live round trip. Yet, there's a hospital 1.2 miles from my house and no learning hospitals to be found in my area. If I were closer to K.C., KS then yes, but not when you're in the sticks.

I passed my boards on July 8th. I have since then applied to about 30 positions. These have been mainly focused on my areas of great interest and the shifts of interest. Soon I will start sucking it up and applying to the hospitals/shifts/areas that are not on the top of my list. I know its only been a little over a week, but I am feeling discouraged already. I know its awful of me, but its the truth.
What's awful is that we were lead to believe there is a shortage of nurses when there actually isn't. My friends and family seem confused when they hear I don't have a job yet. Everyone says "there's a shortage- you should be able to find something easily". What a joke. I continue to apply and look every day, but I am quickly losing hope. I had a good job before, and sometimes feel dumb to have given up a sure thing.
I'm also sick of hearing of others who find a job so easily in other states. Good for you - but you don't have to brag!
I had interview part II yesterday, but still have to wait to see if I get a job since one of their HR people is on vacation. So now I have to wait it out until the end of the week or possibly next week. I hate waiting, but at least I hope this could be something that can help pay down my loans from school. Ugh!
