New RN Pay in Philadelphia, PA

Published

I'm a new GN as of last week. I am begining my job search and am wondering what is considered a fair wage for a new RN? I was hoping to gain insight as to what a new RN makes in the Philadelphia area. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

I know at Temple University Hospital it's $28.60 hour

What hospitals in Philly are even HIRING new grads?

I know must places will offer about 24-26$ an hour for Nurse Nurses in Philadelphia, South Jersey can be a little better because it is out of the city, about 26-30$ but goodluck finding a job!!!!!.......just keep trying and keep you hopes up! something will show up

Goodluck!

this isn't a starting salary for a new grad at UOP though?

No, i dont believe so. Last i heard it was ~$28 for a new grad there. But with experience, I believe Penn is the highest paying in the area so it would be nice to start and stay there. Jefferson is paying 27 and some cents for newbies.

Seems like 27-28 is the going rate in the area.

thanks, it's less than I thought it would be. I guess times have really changed.

I understand that at HUP there's a big jump in salary after the first year. I would assume that is also pretty standard in the area.

OH, ok! Did you hear how much of a jump or about how much after the 1st year........

I just double checked with my source and it was $4/hr. That's the difference between Clinical Nurse I and Clinical Nurse II.
