NEW PVT Guide (December 2014)

Nursing Students NCLEX

I passed recently, last week. I did the PVT, it worked for me. I found a site with a good guide about it, and all credit goes to them, but I will just paraphrase it a bit. I have done it for myself and another person who did not pass. We both took it on the same day, and checked with PVT 48+ hours after to see if one of us passed. I got the good pop up, she didn't. Come posting of licenses, I passed, and she didn't. Accurate 2/2

One tip I can give myself, is to not use a credit or debit card, cause you might get negged 200 dollars. Instead, use an empty, but unexpired visa gift card. Myself? I didn't have a gift card, but a quick Google search for "free empty visa gift card" turns up a ton of results, and I just used one of theirs, the online community is great when it comes to things like that.

On to the trick.

Wait 24 hours after the exam, because as some have said, they grade the exam twice. Once right after, and another by hand within 24 hours. If your palm thing didn't work, or you are suspected of cheating, expect to wait longer.

Basically, go to Pearson Vue and reregister. Make it all the way to the credit card info part. Input a card that is real (Don't just put random numbers)(I recommend an empty but valid Visa gift card). Hit submit, takes you to a confirmation page, then hit submit again.

There are THREE outcomes to this Pass, Undecided, Fail. In order here they come.

1) If you get a message that shows a red triangle like this.

"Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time."

^^^Means that you PASSED.

2) Second possible outcome. This one is a neutral. Not definite you passed, not definite you failed. You are stuck in between, because they haven't finished grading your stuff yet, or its up for review because of a problem. Often times, people mistaken this as pass, and find out later they failed. Just try again in a few hours or days.

"The candidate currently has an open registration for this exam. A new registration cannot be created at this time."

^^^Means a UNDECIDED pass or fail.

3) If you did it my way, with an empty Visa gift card, then this one means you failed, because the payment would have gone through if your card had the funds. Sorry if you get this one, don't lose heart.

"The payment was declined. Reason: Contact your credit card company or use a different credit card."

^^^ Means you FAILED, because it declined your money.

If you don't get these messages, then make sure you input the credit card info and on that page hit submit. It takes you to a 2nd confirmation page, hit submit again. The page that you should be on will have one of those above THREE outcomes.

Hope this helps people who are confused. By the way, Philippine graduate, 1 shot the NCLEX-RN.

Admin, I read the TOS, I don't think any of this should violate TOS, but do let me know which part I can edit out if it does.

Delivery successful is no longer a message as of August 2014. The results available/unavailable is referring to quick results as applicable. So in CA it will always say results unavailable as CA does not participate in quick results.

The test is scored twice hence why it is strongly suggested you not attempt the "PV trick" until at least after 24 hours. Several have been charged and later passed and vice versa. The old PVT was somewhat reliable. After 8/2014 it's not as reliable. If you are charged and passed there are no refunds. If you think you passed there are other reasons you could get the first pop up in the OP such as you failed a third time and BoN mandates completing a refresher course before you may test again

Alright! Thank you. I'm so not updated to this PVT anymore haha :D

I am on the same boat as you. I too, live in Cali and I took my nclex Lvn on deck. 9, and tried the pvt, and got the "good pop up". But I'm still nervous and not get my hope up until I get the official result. Fingers cross for the us

I did immediately after my test, less than an hour.. I got the good pop up.. 48 hours later I unofficial results to confirm..

I just got the good pop-up! I hope this New PVT is the real deal! I have been reading some promising posts about it, but with it being new and different I can't wait to see my results! I feel a little better, just don't want it to be false hope.

Pvt still works, because I took the test in December. 9 and tried to register again on the 12 and got the good pop up. Then got the letter on dec. 28, saying I pass. Yippee

Hey "nakimsan" I was hoping you could answer a couple quick questions. Did you take your exam in CA? Also, did your name show up on a license verification website before you got your letter saying you passed? Congratulations!

Congrats on passing! And thank you so much for taking the time to post this. My nclex is scheduled for end of Jan and I did not know where to start to look for this trick.

No it didn't show

Hi, I took the NCLEX PN Dec 5th with 85 questions and found out Dec 24th I had passed (I'm in CA). I did try the PVT 24 hours after I completed my test and got the good pop up. Have a great Holiday everyone!

Really!? Now that you got your letter saying you passed does your name show up on "breeze" or another licensing verification website? Did you test in CA? Thanks!

I just wanted to post because I was searching about the PVT like a crazy person after taking my exam yesterday. I took my exam at 8:00 am, got 152 questions, and felt awful. I tried the PVT about two hours after my exam, went to the CC screen, clicked submit and got the 'good popup'! I wasn't convinced as the consensus on the inter-webs isn't great about the accuracy of the PVT since they changed the system in August. Anyway, it was accurate for me. I passed!

I graduated in Jan 2012, took the NCLEX in Mar 2012 and failed. I was so discouraged and finally took it again yesterday (almost 4 yrs after graduation) and I am getting the good pop up! My question is, since this all feels like a dream and I keep doubting it, since I took my test in a Saturday vs a weekday, could this delay any of the 2nd checking done by hand? If I didn't pass, would I not get the good pop up? Ugh! I am so nervous!
