So I am new to the world of Health care I really was not sure what I wanted to do at first but I knew I wanted it to be something in the health care field. I was pregnant at the time and did not want to wait so I jumped into an AA of Health Care Admin with Axia College of University of Phoenix. My questions with this is
Will this count for or towards anything? I am scared to death that I have already started the debt trail and it was for nothing.... I think I would really like to be a RN. I just really to be frank am not sure what I am looking for information wise..... Would I be able to use my AA to cancel out prereq. To minimize what I will have to do for like the physical stuff or "lab hours" what ever they are called. I know I will need that but I do not have the time for that yet.
I will be done with my AA the first week of Feb. What should I start doing next? Will it help to go onto to my Bachelors?
I am just not sure where to start next I guess.... I will answer questions to help get mine answered if needed....
I live in Oklahoma and here is some of my AA stuff....

Hi and welcome.
If I were you, I would look at all the BSN and ASN programs in your area that interest you. Look at all their requirements. If you are confused with anything, call the Director or Admissions department of each program. What types of information you will need is what credits will they take. This will factor in how many additional courses you will need to give you a time line of how long it will take you to finish and graduate. For some ASN programs, they require TEAS, or NLN, or other type of entrance exam to be taken. You must meet a certain grade point average, because Nursing School is very competitive.
Good luck.
I think I am interested in any ASN program that will accept any of my credits from UOP.... I am utterly terrified that everything I have done will have been a waste of time. Thanks for your information!
Then if an ASN is what you want, start looking into programs now. You won't know until you look into the information. Every program is different, but typically Chemistry, A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology, English, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics are among the prerequisites needed. Also, check the "Region" tab on here and find your state to see if there are already discussions of programs you're interested in. They can give you some tips.
Wow okay thanks a lot all I have found so far is Oklahoma State University, and Oklahoma city community college..... I have called the community college to set a meeting with the academic person there. Thanks a lot for your tips and information on helping me get started!

i dont see any classes that will count towards nursing school. i already have my bachelors degree and i had to just take my prereqs and then go to nursing school. they dont care about the degree really. sometimes you will score additional points to get in but as far as helping you get an BSN or ADN there are set classes.

Very few schools accept U of P credits. But even if your nutrition, algebra, and humanities (those are the 3 that would be used in my program) are not counted for credit, the fact you took them and the other classes will surely help you in your educational goals. So don't get your hopes up on getting out of classes, but don't beat yourself up about it, you are surely a better student after U of P.

I went a similar for profit school. I was doing their AA in business admin with a concentration in healthcare admin. I was about halfway through when I made the decision that this will not help me in my nursing career. I spoke to my local community college and they told me that they don't accept credits from the school. Usually, the for profit schools don't transfer anywhere. Now I am $20,000 in debt and have nothing to show for it. Those schools are a joke.
