Now that many have gotten their letters for upcoming 2012 I thought I would make a new post for us in the Nursing Student section to make it official! Thought it would be nice to come here to keep each other updated on our progress and whats happening in our programs thus far.
I got my nursing student registration date of December 20th to sign up for my classes, meet my classmates and meet my adviser. Then we have a new student orientation on January 9th. Found out the color of our clinical scrubs will be maroon (my favorite color) and we can purchase them from anywhere as long as they are maroon. Been looking at some good books to pick up to help with studying that have been recommended by students and nurses on this site. Heres a small list:

You might want to wait till you see your actual syllabus and book list before you purchase these. I will add more as I come across them, if you guys come up with any recommendations for books, ect, let us know. And make sure to post important dates you have coming up for your programs and how you're doing! I'm very excited and scared at the same time, LOL. But I look forward to the challenge.
Awww, not my place to chime in but I can't help but reminisce. I was reading and writing on these threads this time last year. I remember the anticipation, every week waiting to start like a year :) Then I started and time has just absolutely flown by. I can't believe it!!!! It's been quite an experience..Good Luck everyone :)

Glad to hear it, I havent even started yet, and I am excited to begin, but I cant wait to be done and actually working, LOL. Glad to hear it flying by so fast!
I've been in school this past fall semester (I finish this week) as a pre-nursing student. I was accepted fully into the nursing program for my LPN, and will be starting that in January, can't wait!
I'll be taking A&P I, Pharmacology I, Nutrition, Nursing Fundementals, and History of Nursing. I heard there's actually 6 classes next semester, but haven't heard what the other one is yet. We haven't gotten our syllabus yet, I was told we'll get it the first week of Jan. when we register for classes.
I did buy all my books though (14 books!!!) on the book list, along with the Saunder's NCLEX-PN book, the Fundementals Success, Fluids and Electrolytes Made Easy (heard from students a semester ahead of me that's the hardest area in the Nutrition class), and I bought the Kaplan A&P flashcards.
I finished my background checks, got all my immunizations (except my varicella, which I'm gettiing tomorrow), my fingerprints, physical, bought my uniforms (navy blue, I love it!), got my CPR certification, got my ID badge and all the other stuff that I needed to do.
Can't wait to dive right in next semester!
So I'm curious, how many of you new nursing student's program have A&P,nutrition, lifespan, micro and chem integrated? My program won't even look at your application without those classes done. A little part of me is jealous of those that do. I'm really freaking out about reviewing all my previous classes, which has given me a HUGE headache. For those with a program like mine how do you review?
I just received my acceptance letter in the mail to start school in the Fall of 2012!
I was actually supposed to start nursing school this past Fall. Last year I applied and got accepted to the other nursing program. But then I found out I was pregnant, and my husband and I had to move from where we were living (cost of living was too high there) and ended up buying a house over an hour away. That would have been way too much driving for me, especially considering I was going to be a new mom, and there was a hospital/nursing program only 3 minutes away from our new house. So, I decided to apply there for the Fall of 2012.
Yesterday I received my acceptance letter and paperwork in the mail. I'm so excited about the program! I know about a dozen people that work at that hospital and love it, as well as several that are in/have graduated from the program I'll be starting.
I start my lpn program Jan 17 and I'm ultra EXCITED!!! I haven't gotten anything for the program as of yet. I plan on buying scrubs and nursing accessories at the end of this month. I plan on getting my fundamentals of nursing book and lpn guide sometime this month to get ahead. Can't believe it's December already, January will be here before we know it! Tomorrow I get my fingerprints done and that'll be all. Next up, orientation!
I'm part of the accepted crowd also! I got my letter in October.
We had a brief meeting in December to be drug tested and given a list of things to do before January. (physical, CPR, blood work, TB, immunizations, background checks, etc..)
We are supposed to have an Orientation Jan. 13th and first day of class is Jan. 16th.
I've got 3 of my 5 textbooks purchased from Half.com. Super excited!!!
So ready to take this journey with all of you.

hello future nurses!! i will be starting nursing school jan 2012. i'm excited, but nervous about the schedule and how i'm going to work around it. however..excitement takes over most of the time. i have completed all requirements in my packet, just need to get my drug screen back so the doctor can sign my health packet. i ordered one set of uniforms because they are freaking expensive. we are required to buy white dove brand uniforms. anyway, i'm new to this. do we keep coming here to learn about each other? how do i acquire friends? hahaha.. so lost. nice reading all about you guys!
