Now that many have gotten their letters for upcoming 2012 I thought I would make a new post for us in the Nursing Student section to make it official! Thought it would be nice to come here to keep each other updated on our progress and whats happening in our programs thus far.
I got my nursing student registration date of December 20th to sign up for my classes, meet my classmates and meet my adviser. Then we have a new student orientation on January 9th. Found out the color of our clinical scrubs will be maroon (my favorite color) and we can purchase them from anywhere as long as they are maroon. Been looking at some good books to pick up to help with studying that have been recommended by students and nurses on this site. Heres a small list:
Fundamentals Success: A Course Review Applying Critical Thinking to Test Taking, Second edition (Davis's Success): Two Books in One With Bonus CD-ROM

You might want to wait till you see your actual syllabus and book list before you purchase these. I will add more as I come across them, if you guys come up with any recommendations for books, ect, let us know. And make sure to post important dates you have coming up for your programs and how you're doing! I'm very excited and scared at the same time, LOL. But I look forward to the challenge.
Hi there LVN123.. I'm sure you will get all this information at your orientation. During my orientions I was told to purchase a stethoscope, BP cuff, scissors, light pen, and a holder for these small things. I was instructed to buy white leather shoes. No sneakers. we were also instructed about our uniforms.
I am starting Jan 9th! I have orientation on Dec 15th & 16th which I am really excited for. I have everything done just have to wait to get my books closer to xmas since everyone is giving money for xmas towards my books. I am taking my final in A&P II wed night, but I am not worried since I have a 98% in the class...woohoo!! I am ready for clinicals to start!:-) Good luck everyone!
Hey everyone! I am thrilled to be starting the ADN program in Jan. It will be great to have a place to go for support : ) I am so glad to be a part!! Did anyone get sick after taking shots? I took the Hep B and Tetorifice and had cough, brain fog and major fatigue for 3 weeks. It was terrible. I am very healthy and have never experience anything like that before. I finally snapped out of it. First the cough went away, then I got my energy and mind back. This is really strange and alarming. I am scheduled for my 2nd one next week and I am really scared. Any advice?
Hi all! First time poster here, didn't see an introductions forum so will take care of that here! I've been accepted into a Spring Flex II A.A.S. RN program and will be starting the day after my one year wedding anniversary, yikes! All prerequisites are done and I'll register for my first semester this Monday. Currently work at a substance abuse detox/residential treatment center with several very bright nurses and they're already drilling info into my skull! I hope to work at least 32 hr/wk to maintain full time employment. Hope I'm not getting in too deep over my head!
I was accepted for Spring 2012, and have already started getting stuff together. The books alone are overwhelming. Excited and terrified all at the same time.
Congrats to you all! I am finishing up my first semester of the ADN program next week, and it has been a VERY trying semester. Just know it's going to get really hard at times, but keep pushing through. The time will fly by! :)
Hello Everyone!
I am new as a member to the site but have been checking in from time to time over the last couple months. I got accepted to CSU, Long Beach for Spring 2012 and I start January 23rd. I've been to my orientation and just got my schedule of classes. I'm super excited to get started!!!
I hope to meet some fellow nursing students here and I look forward to the adventure for the next couple years.
Cheers!

Hey Kaligirl..Thanks for that friend request.. I will hopefully get the hand of this soon. :monkeydance:
As of my books, I don't know what books I will need because I need to turn my packet in first, but I'm expecting to lose and arm and maybe a leg on them. Also, let me just share that I was an alternate and I got in so, just a small testament to what prayer and patience can do.
