New Mexico Licensure Question

U.S.A. New Mexico

Published

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!

I think all that you can do is apply again to the BON

wow thats sad! are they going to do the same thing again? as in starting from sending all the documents?

Validity of the ATT is different from the eligibility time for the state, they are completely two different things.

States normally do not keep a file active for more than a year if one has not tested, that is why your eligibility expired. And it begins from when they receive the application, not from when one gets there approval from them to sit for the exam.

Please be aware that now that you have to start from the beginning, they are also requiring the CES before they will look at your application. You will need to get this done before you send anything to them, or they will return your application to you almost immediately.

Best of luck to you.

If a file is destroyed, then everything must be sent in again as well as any new requirements be met. So that now means that a CES, credentials eval needs to be obtained first as well.

Never, never assume anything. If not sure, then always check with the BON directly.

thanks!! suzanne is right before doing something like filing another application check directly to BON maybe.. maybe if your file is still there you dont need to start from step 1.

thank you for all your posts... I will not be re-applying to the NM BON to sit for the exam... nothing was assumed in the process of my application.

also, i'm really wondering. why should they start counting the period of your eligibility from the day they received your application, when in fact, they still have to review your papers and decide if you meet the requirements to become eligible. it doesn't make sense to start counting the validity period from then. i am referring to situations before they required the CES. i don't mean to rant, but i am simply dumbfounded with this situation. i have read the new mex bon site (during the time i was applying and waiting for my eligibilty) and i failed to see any clear cut guideline as to when the validity period of the eligibility actually starts. during my time, i kept calling the bon and just got voice mail, sent inquiries on their site, and didn't get a reply. i sought guidance in forums and other people's experiences... and found out that i have been misinformed.

oh well, in any case, oversight on my end and limitations on their part, overall, it's a real painful experience.

You can not get a SSN until in the US with a valid work visa. I would suggest contacting the BON and explaining that you are caught up in retrogression and no idea when you will get a visa and what to do about renewal

I wrote NM BON several weeks ago. The officer said SSN is required to renew RN License.

i'll be renewing my NM nursing license... i didn't know that a SSN is required for renewal. how do i get that since i'm still in Philippines?

You won't get a SSN, see answer above.

You need to contact BON and seek advise.

hai! Thank you for your reply.. unfortunately i didnt pursue my nclex.... because my opportunity working in malaysia came ahead june 2008 and the expiration of my eligibility is july. they answered so slow that time. because of the backlogs, i had applied 2007 and they approved me after one year.

thanks so much
