New Mexico Licensure Question

Published

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!

thanks nwb.. i just took the NLE last june08 and still waiting for the positive result. so you mean i can go on with the NM NCLEX application as early as now? i believe that there were changes with it and i am confused with CES.:uhoh3:

what do I have to do first? thank you so much.:yeah:

If you wrote the NLE, you need to wait for the results. CGFNS will not process the CES without it.

NM now requires the CES be completed and sent to them before they will do anything with your application and they want to have that in their hands first. They no longer want you to send anything to them until the CES is completed.

Does this mean that one has to sit the nclex again? Or would a request to the original state (that requires the SSN) to simply forward a "pass" result of the nclex to the new endorsing state suffice?

What should you do if the original registration records have already expired and have been shredded (CA holds on to records for only 3 years)?

Do other states even process applications for licensure (by exam) from RNs with pending licensure applications to other states that require the SSN? Their application for licensure IS considered "pending", (i.e., RN has already passed the NCLEX but cannot be licensed for lack of SSN) right?

You cannot use the endorsement application since there is no license issued to you. Another state will process your application provided that the original state send in verification to them; not an issue at all.

You are able to hold more than one license, you are not restricted to one state; it is just that one cannot write the NCLEX exam for more than one state when they sit for it.

If CA has destroyed your file and nothing was ever done with it before the three years were up, then there is no record of you passing the exam. This is why we state over and over again, to always apply for licensure to another state before the letter expires so that your scores can go to the new state and you can get a license issued, or at least your scores preserved.

If the file has been shredded or destroyed, then there is no proof one passing any longer that can be sent on to the new state.

When did your application/letter expire? How long ago? It stated right on the letter that you received that the file would be destroyed in three years from that time if the SSN# was not provided to them.

It is not required. :-)

Actually not true. The exam is not required, that is correct. However, if the exam was written, then one must possess passing result on that to be able to get the CES issued, they will not issue it without verification of the passing results. And this information that one tested has to be included on the application for the CES.

There is a big difference when the exam has been written, proof of passing is then required.

If never written, then not an issue for NM; at least at this time.

Goodday allnurses

I would like to ask about the New Mexicos time frame for processing of application papers? And if applying to this State, do i have take Ielts first? Does the state requires cgfns? becuase i have no plans to take cgfns but only the nclex.

Can i take nclex first without ielts for this state NM? What about CES? to CVS?

Thanks

Have you checked NM website? All info regarding foreign nurse requirements will be there. CVS is only for NY BON

I Saw my name yesterday at the License Certificate look up page but now i can't find my name. Does this mean i Passed or an error on the site of NMBN?

I took the NCLEX exam last july 24.

You need to look at the License Verification pages on the website for NM, that is where your name will be if a license has been issued to you.

If you paid the fee to Pearson-Vue and it stated that you passed, then you have passed and will be issued a license.

Please take the time to do some reading on this site for the new requirements for NM. They require the CES before they will even look at your application. And they do not want you to send a thing into them without the CES already on its way to them, or they are just going to return it.

And yes, they have a requirement for English and that needs to be done before the CES report will be issued.
