Hi everyone. Does anyone know how one should go about applying for the State board in New Mexico? After the school sends the official transcript and after completing the fingerprinting requirements, how long will it take before one could be given an ATT? Thanks and have a nice day!
would like to ask how/where did you ask for fingerprint cards?accdg to NM website i have to request from fbi for some. but the fbi website requests for an agency number...also, i'm confused as to request for an applicant/personal type of fingerprint cards. :uhoh21:
if you're asking for cards for yourself only, you can send an email to the bon. here's a link to the website, read the important note (not the one for agencies) where you'll see the email address: http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms.html state your request for the fingerprint cards, your full name and complete mail address. don't wait for an email reply and don't send multiple requests. the cards and the forms will arrive in 3 to 4 weeks or sooner. in the meantime, download the other forms, study it, request your school to send your TOR ((with RLE) straight to the NM BON preferably through courier. read also the other pages in this thread for more info.
Hi,Why does it always states that you need to pass the CGFNS and/or NCLEX (varies by state) exam to work in the U.S? I asked this because my sister-in-law is a nurse in Saudi Arabia & wants to work in the states. She passed her license in the Philippines but has not taken TOEFL, TOE, CGFNS & NCLEX exam.
Does NM employer require this to be qualified for a job? I live in NM & want to help her to come here. She's been working in Saudi Arabia in more or less 10 yrs.
Thanks in advance for time.

hi Mary! glad to meet somebody here from NM. are you a nurse from the Philippines? how's it like in NM? you are in albuquerque?
let me try to answer your questions. from what I understand, to be able to work as a nurse in the US, one must have a US nurse license to practice there. The licensure requirements for each state in the US (for international applicants or non-US school graduates) are not necessarily the same in all states. The board of nursing for NM has an official website where you can have the requirements for licensure for foreign graduates. You can also read the previous pages in this thread because it has useful information on applying for NM licensure including the link to the NM BON's website. But, if you're in Albuquerque, perhaps you can call or visit its office there.
After passing nclex, the foreign nurse must have a visascreen certificate issued by the cgfns/ichp. You can search for the website of cgfns and look for the visascreen service. The forms and instructions are all there. The said certificate is required by US immigration authorities from foreign healthcare professionals.
US employers will look for the US license to practice nursing from your sister-in-law. The US immigration authorities will ask for the visascreen certificate from her.
I hope this helps.
hi everone .. imfrom philippines..Im planning to take NM-NCLEX because they say it's so easy and fast to apply there and you'll get your att for just about 2 months or 3. But im not planning to work there. CAn i endorse it later to NYor Cali after passing NCLEX? and do you have any idea how long it would take for me to endorse to another state? please? i badly need your advice because im planning to get my TOR later, thanks for your help...
hi everyone! can I endorse to New York After passing NM-NClex? Is it easy and fast to endorse to another state? like Cali or New york? Does any one here have an idea how long would it take? thank you
you can consider applying directly for New York licensure if you are decided to work there. it will save you time and money (than going through New Mexico licensure and later endorse to NY).
For NY licensure, you will need the credentials verification service (CVS) for new york state. it's a service done by cgfns for foreign graduates who apply for license in new york (either thru exam or endorsement of license in another state). processing time for cvs is usually 4 to 6 months (sometimes, 6 to 10 months) based on the experience of other applicants.
you can read more about cvs and ny licensure from the website of cgfns and also of NYSED OP http://www.op.nysed.gov/nursing.htm (look for the verification of education credentials from non-US programs).
i hope this helps.
information on applying for licensure by endorsement to CA can be found from the website of CA BRN: http://www.rn.ca.gov/lic/lic-end.htm
read also the application form. take note of the fees and other requirements. consider also the incidental expenses/costs.
