New to IPN??? What is it?

Nurses Recovery

Hello everyone, I recently tried applying for a PRN job and tested positive for narcotics. Unfortunately It was the biggest mistake in my life because I don't do drugs and had a procedure done the day before the test. I tried explaining to them but they don't want to listen. Now I just received a certified mail stating to call IPN within 3 days. I am currently working and wondering if I have to leave my job! I've been working there for 12 years and I can't believe this is happening to me! Please help and explain what this IPN is, how long is this program, do they have early termination, will this stay in your file for ever??

Thank you,

I your story is true and I have no opinion either way you need to not talk about this here and hire an attorney familiar with professional practice issues. Also get a copy of the medical records for the procedure you had done.

IPN is a monitoring program with your state's BRN it can last anywhere from 3 to 5 years and cost you a whole bunch of money. If you are not impaired or using narcotics in an inappropriate manner hire a lawyer and fight it.

Stop talking online now. get a lawyer and let him/her do the talking. You've just publicly admitted to illicit use of amphetamines.

If the story given is true, its not illicit use. My understanding is that phentramine is an OTC herbal diet aid, but it can cause a false positive for amphetamine.

Yes, I figured out that it wasn't the procedure by the diet pills that I was taking phentramine! I'm so stupid and didn't realize that it was an amphetamine! I had no Rx and therefore here I am in this bind all because I took the easy way out to loose way. Wow big mistake and a big lesson learned here. Does anyone know how long is this IPN for? How early do they give you an evaluation appointment for?

Thank you?

OP, IPN is not something you just want to agree to and try to "get it over with" instead of fighting it. This is worth getting a lawyer and fighting.

Phentramine is a sheduled 4 controlled substance.

It's a controlled substance requiring a prescription. Which if they had a script they would be OK, but looking at their post they didn't have a script. I had to go back and check because I was going to tell them it can cause a false positive on initial testing but they should be fine with a script. So not sure how they are getting it.

I'm 20k out of pocket already and diversion was disproven in my case. Still have a 5 yr contract ....ipn bases on original complaint not what the DOH finds in investigation. Good luck.

This whole thing is a money making endeavor that functions at the expense of the people it supposedly advocates for. I've had multiple instances where I've had to deal with lies. Some of which were in the totally impartial evaluation (yeah, right!, not!!) that documented me as saying I had done things which i most certainly did not. I am counting the days until i can tell these people to **** ***. There is no way in hades that i will EVER consider this to be a helpful experience.

These kind of programs use evidence based practice (although said evidence is shaky and opinionated at best) when it is convenient to justify things like 5 year contracts for all comers, but also rely on junk science like ETG ans Peth testing. I learned way back at the beginning of this horror show that nobody cares what really happened, and once the hand is in the honeypot (also known as your pocket) it ain't never coming out until even they can't justify a reason to keep fleecing you.
