The first genetically modified pig heart was transplanted into a person last week!  They inactivated a few genes and added a few human genes to the pig's genome.  Pigs are able to grow an adult size organ in six months.  So far the gentleman is alive albeit on a heart/lung machine but his physician said testing shows the heart is doing most of the work and the critical first 48 hours when acute rejection risk is highest passed without incident.

What are your thoughts on using animals for organs and the possibility of anyone needing an organ having one available?  I know there are pancreas trials as well--which would cure a type 1 Diabetic.

As far as I'm concerned, medicine has gone way too. It will lead us to destruction eventually.
