New Grad RN

Published

Hello all,

I'm happy to say that I finally received my NY nursing license. I am bachelors prepared and ready to work. Does anyone have any suggestions of places to apply apply in the city or anywhere in the boroughs. Preferably a place that would accept new grads or would be new grad friendly. I would really appreciate any input with regards to that.

Thanks everyone.

dont bother applying in NY anymore. go out of state :D

You can try applying to all hospitals. No hospital in NYC hires loads of new grads, they all have a quota as they need enought preceptors for the new grads. Try the NYC hhc hospitals, ny Methodist, maimonides, Lutheran, Montefiore, etc. If u wan a job quick look upstate or out of states or be willing to apply and accept a non hospital job. There are too many new grads each year and not enough new grad positions.

Search area hospitals and see if they have any upcoming job fairs. Sometimes it really makes a difference when they meet you in person.

Thanks I actually saw one for NYU next week I plan on attending. I was just curious if anyone had an idea of which hospitals hire new grads. A lot places I see require experience.

Goat_Boy, I named a few hospitals to try for new grads in my post right before CrazyGoonRN. Pleas read all posts before asking the same question again.

My apologies. Thank you. I appreciate your answer. I applied to all of the locations you listed over the past few days. I'm not willing to leave NYC so I don't think it would be necessary to apply upstate. Perhaps I would apply in Jersey, however I need to get my jersey license as well. Any resources you recommend. I like to use indeed and monster or I just go directly to the hospital website.

hi! we're on the same foot. ive been trying to apply various hospitals here in NYC but didnt get any call back from them.. so sad :(

pls update me with your status. :D

Well, do you have your BSN? New grad? Experience? How long have you been applying? Where have you been applying?

I looked in clinics on craigs list...its not hospital and the pay is less but I need a job pronto so its something for now.

I live in Boston ... Not as saturated as NYC, but very difficult to find employment as a new grad. I suggest Home health agencies. Also, for smaller facilities/agencies, put on your Sundays best with cover letter, resume on hand... just walk in.

I did this for home health agency and a small clinic and was given an offer from The health agency, the clinic loved me.

Not sure if this is an option for you, but you never know.

Would not hurt to network on LinkedIn, either.

Good luck and congrats RN!!!

NYC and upstate hospitals.

was offered nursing home jobs. ddnt accept the offer.
