Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
I do not want to sound like a party pooper, but Australia is far from needy for overseas nurses, especially ones with NO experience, please consider this and do not go in with these 'rose coloured glasses' that everyone seems to have......BP - registration-great Australian dream.
Please be prepared for long wait....you spend a lot of money getting this far.....think about it first......though if you do not try you will never know, but be prepared with lots of money...find a relative.....or be prepared to apply through ANMAC who will assess your registration and get you through faster immigation, this may mean to return home for a couple of months, but its better than sitting around waiting for job offers spending more money.
Then, as said before, you will have PR and can apply for the part-time jobs and casual work is overflowing at times. No one listens...

This link might give you an idea about the real situation in OZ. Read the comments page. I'm actually scared because I'm scheduled to leave next year.
Cioman went through many, many months of trying to get work....he also did not have to do bridging program so therefore did not pay out thousands to do that....he also was not in Australia, paying out thousands just to survive, he also took a job in a nursing home way out in the country hours from the city.....these a few months ago were a bit easier to get, not now.....for goodness sake, I am telling you an alternative and all you guys do is talk about getting work with a sponsorship....this means you have to find a employer that cannot find a local that is offering full-time work........these are now rare..part -time work is available to those with experience through agency or a hospital nurse bank and are much easier to get...... nobody is going to post on here saying that with all the hard work and money they have invested they still have no work! saving face.
...this reasoning on Ciomans experience does not hold merit. I managed to get a cnc job last month..does that mean anyone else that wants to do that, should be able to do the same?
Merry and Safe Christmas to everyone as well.

The comments from real new Australian graduates are very true, no mention in the article of this though, just nursing shortage, nursing shortage......which does not exist for inexperienced nurses, please take note of some of these comments, migration is the only way of staying here and getting a job!

that is true, but you also need to remember that before you can apply for PR even though you have passed the BP there is a paid experience required. I just can't remember if it's 1 year or 2 years. Thus for new graduates without the number of years of experience required will just have to try and hope that an employer will sponsor them on a visa 457 after passing BP and getting Registration with Ahpra

How about if a relative sponsors you. It would also count right?

You don't get hired nor commence in a nursing job unless you're registered, isn't it?...I believe that as long as there are humans in this world of ours, not to mention the aging population, the emerging and re-emerging diseases, the younger generation getting heart problems, I think there will be a need for nurses...what is needed to be done is to look at the right places and making the right choices..
