New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

i emailed ahpra and even ihna to ask how will this transition affect ihna and i'm still waiting for their rep.

in the ahpra list of programs, it even states there that ihna's approval is valid until septmber 2011 and transition is come this july. now, what i really want to know if there are graduates from the past from september last year from ihna who successfully got their license. coz if they did, then perhaps, the accreditation doesn't affect our registration with ahpra.

if you can help me guys call ahpra to verify this so we can all have peace of mind. yesterday when i called, the one who is in charge of this wasn't around yet, so i didn't get a decent reply.

at what stage are you at now, ilove83080 with regard to your ihna app?

i have sent the - signed (and ticked all the checkbox of) their offer letter confirmation including their accommodation (haven't waived it yet) and paid their 1.5k down payment. luckily, my mom had me do errands last time. or i would have send the other dues (my family's money) for tuition. i will temporarily stop everything and not apply visa for the meantime while it is still not clarified. the 1.5 tuition was half of my savings. :uhoh3:

well there is a difference i think cos im not sure but isn't ahpra the one who accredits before? and lately the power was passed to anmac? last time i wrote to ahpra, they did ask me to consult anmac because they no longer do the accreditations. after that i talked to ihna they did assure that they are applying towards renewing their their accreditation. i raise the issue on accreditation last april 28 here but i decided that everyone was not affected so might as well go on. i wonder what will happen to the nurses who will study in not accredited bps especially june onwards? will they be able to register and will institutions hire them? hph have passed for re-accreditation ever since they aren't approved yet until now but they are waiting for re-accreditation.

the most important information we have is from this guy that we start questioning again:

guys.. i inquired anmac regarding ihna's status and this is the reply i got.

"the program is currently going through the accreditation process and as yet there is no outcome. we would advise any student not to enrol in any program unless accreditation can be confirmed. "

hope this helps. by the way this message is sent may `17, 2012. you can recheck for a more detailed update.

cummulus if you want information. i think you should instead first contact anmac. i will contact them too.

those bound for ihna if you are shaken temporarily don't make full payment yet for your own good but it is your choice if you want.

You can submit via email.. Just scan all the documents and send it as email attachments.. I paid through telegraphic transfer.

IHNA people.

I think there is no point contacting AHPRA for IHNA's accreditation status. I have tried this and I was directed to ANMAC. Actually, it was an IHNA officer who gave me the link so that I can confirm my enquery. More to that, she stated that AHPRA/NMBA does not accredit courses, and so, not in the position to answer such enqueries.

For what school/BP are you now? Have you started processing or paid to IHNA? What schools will you be considering?

I have already paid 1,500AUD. For now, my plan would be to wait until their re-accreditation process is done before paying for the full tuition fee.

Hello everyone! I would like to ask for an advice because I am about to send my application to CON.

Which among the following do you think is better since I will be using money order in paying the tuition fee?

1. Send my application through a courier with the money order in it

2. Send my application online and then send the money order separately on the same day

3. Send my application online and wait for them to respond re the tuition fee first before I send the money order (but will this affect the processing time?)

hello ihna pips...got confused also with this transition thing on July 2012. I asked my friend who's in Aus and talked about this matter, I was told that ihna will for sure reapply for accreditation because institutions are not allowed to conduct BP if they are not permitted to offer such course. ANMC has nothing to do with the registration, only the AHPRA. The ANMC which is for the accreditation will be only recognized if we apply for permanent residency. That's what I have undewrstood about this issue. Hope this can help.

ANMAC accredit courses for nursing in Australia and also assess overseas nurses qualifications for immigration purposes.

I would be surprised if these organisations previously mentioned would conduct courses knowing that there is foreseen problems with their future accreditation as it is not the Australian way of doing business and there is laws against offering a service and not delivering.

I have stated in the past, that these courses should be run through university only or nursing college as these institutions are not trying to make so much money from the applicants and also have a standard that all aspects of a course and teaching is always under scrutiny for best practise. Registered nurses are now seen as well educated university degreed professionals. I does not seem correct that a university is not the standard place to conduct such an important course.

Interesting, how these private bridging courses were allowed to start business in Victoria and no other states under the old system of state nursing boards, are the only overseas bridging courses, still waiting for their accreditation due july 2012, you have to wonder why.

Are they slack with their paperwork, is ANMAC slack assessing these private nursing education companies, or is there a problem with their education standards? under national standards.

In any case they have to the end of July to be accredited for the rest of the year and beyond.

More like 5-6 dollArs an hour. No I do not know how you get sponsored jobs just google hospitals and aged care providers, you may have to do a lot of research yourself.

Just to encourage the aspiring fellow country men undertaking the bridging courses, there usually is only around 1-2 dollars difference between acute and aged care nurses salary for base rate year one pay, and your base rate grade per hour actually goes up to four notches higher if you get night shifts.

And how do we find a job that will sponsor us? Online? What website?
