Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
hi everyone.
just to update my timeline:
August 2011: submitted my AHPRA application
Feb. 27, 2012: received an email saying that I'm approved "in-principle" for nursing registration. no bridging program required.
March - April 2012: job applications. I probably applied online to more or less 50 agencies, hospitals, aged care facilities
April 11, 2012: was accepted for a job in Queensland
April 19, 2012: I did my medicals ahead of the actual visa application
April 27, 2012: medicals received by Sydney office
April 30, 2012: 457 visa application lodged
May 07, 2012: all requirements finalized. Including the requested further information which is just the copy of my health insurance.
May 14, 2012: visa application approved but I only saw it today, May 15th.
now if I can get over the POEA requirement then I should be in Australia within this week.
God is great! And prayers really work.
God bless everyone.
Ive send my additional docs last sat to aphra vic reg team it took me some time to get them. I applied march 29.I didnt think about it properly on where I'd be sending it (a bit foolish maybe). But sent it to the registration team (now i think about, the case officer should have been better!), wrote a letter and labeled my papers with BOLD letters/numbers of my CONTACT NUMBER (its the one stated on their email right?) I'll just wait and see, their quite fast in making a response when they receive docs i think. I might make a call, if theres no response in a week. Hopefully all will be settled.I haven't resolved this issue yet. I got their eMail last Friday. This was their message:"You are required to pay an application fee of AU$160.00, registration fee of AU$160.00 and an overseas assessment fee of AU$220.00. However please be advised we have not received full payment with your submitted application and as such require the additional amount of $90.00."So you mean you resent the page 9 of AGOS40 form wherein you stated the outstanding amount to be paid (AU$90) together with your CC details? When sending additional documents, to whom will you address it, to your case officer or just to AHPRA itself? When did you send your docs Norificed? Thanks for the help & good luck!
"The fees for registration were increased on 27 March 2012 effective of that date. All applications received after this date are required to pay the increased fees.
To pay the remaining fee you can either provide your credit card details or a cheque made payable to AHPRA." -an email response when i inquired last time.

Congratulations!!!!!! :)
Congratulations! God is great! Can i ask what are the exceptions in being ablebto "not take" a bp course? God bless on your journey!
I don't know if they have a specific rules on who get exemptions other than the obvious - graduates of USA, UK, Ireland, Canada, NZ. They did not say why I got the exemptions but I'm pretty positive it's because I have work experience in the US.
I filed my visa application last March 26 through VIA Cebu. Almost 2 months of processing already. But part of it is my fault, I didn't do the medical exams immediately. Hehe. How about you?
you'll get your visa soon, dear :) be positive! still applying in different BP facilities. waiting for replies from them. have you resigned already?
Your information is much appreciated. I have problems securing serology test for DTAP (DPT). I went to several diagnostic centers but they said that theyare still working for DTAP (DPT) to be available here in cebu. TIA
why not have an adult DPT instead? it's cheaper :) other schools accept the shot instead.
btw, what's the difference between IHNA Perth and Melbourne? any feedback? and upon submission of your app, did they contact you right away and were you found eligible at once? also, did you have to attach some reference letter from your boss? tia =)
hey iamnomad! congratulations! another reason to celebrate :) did the employers interview you thru skype/online? :) job well done! :)
no. they just asked me to write an essay on why should they hire me and why I want to work there. A bit unconventional way for an interview, huh?
but there are employers that conduct their interviews online/Skype.
