Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Can i take BP with my student visa? My current visa is subclass 457 my agent told me that I can't do it with that visa.
Student visa's are not generic, they are issued in accordance with a course that you have stated you will undertake, you cannot just change courses and educational institutions and use the same student visa!.
If the BP program that you are enrolled in is a criscos course then you must have another student visa, if it is a private organsation then you need the short term business visa or tourist visa- please note if you take on tourist visa, you still must take all medical checkup etc as your intended time in Australia is be a nurse and that requires medical.
ps I am not a registered imm agent.

here's ahpra-sa's reply to my inquiry regarding the transfer:
"thank you for your recent enquiry regarding transferring your application from wa to sa office.
as you received a notification from wa office advising your application has now been escalated for final approval, i would strongly recommended that you keep your application form in wa for finalising. transferring the hard copy of the documentation from wa to sa office can impact on processing time.
in sa, we process applications in chronological order, from the date the documentation was received. in your situation this would be from the date we received your documentation in s.a.
the standard timeframe for the assessment of registrations is from 3-6 months. however every application is assessed on its own merits therefore this time frame is only a guide and cannot be guaranteed. so therefore, by transferring your application from wa to sa office, we cannot guarantee that we will complete the assessment in time for your bridging course this may 2012.

one other applicant tried this after waiting 6 months, transferred it to wa from victoria and waited another 6 months. then complained that it took too long.
changing assessments centres, is like trying to jump the queue,....australian culture does not work like that. you are asking another ahpra office to assess you application, it goes to the end of the queue behind the other applicants that have sent their applications to that specific ahpra office.
you hear that someone was assessed at this office in the past month or so that they received their loe in 6 weeks, but that was then - past tense, things change according to the daily mail. nothing is for sure, when making assumptions on someones past experience in their timeframe for assessment.....
