Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hello kringkring!
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I already had those shots. It's just that IHNA is asking for the serology also as stated in their vaccination requirements. But it's okay now. They said it's okay not to have serology testing for DPT. Thanks again!:)
Hi, Ladydee! Thanks for the reply. I got my email last March 07. I guess waiting for a decision is the hardest thing to do. The suspense is killing me. lol. Good luck to us!I'm asking because if it will take a long time, I might accept a job in the Middle East while waiting for this. But if I do, that would mean being tied for two years in a contract, so I wanted to get an idea. How about you? Currently working? Where? If you don't mind my asking. :)
We have the same dilemma.. My family needs money now, especially with my mom getting sick and my siblings' educational plan got bankrupt... So I really need to earn my keep, not just for me but also for my family...
But we have to think ahead of us... 2 years of P30K monthly from Middle East is so much lower or almost nothing to the P100K monthly you'll earn in Australia (even with debts) after a few more weeks ( i hope, if not months)...
If it is complete and everything is in order, maybe you could just ask why your papers has not been advanced for final approval. It could just be an unfortunate misunderstanding or something like it. I can understand your frustration, I've been in a situation like that before when I was applying for a previous job, but you really have to be cool about the whole thing and just ask them nicely.
I have already asked them.. If you will read my previous post, I asked them why the rate of assessing each application is not consistent. They told me that the rate depends on the case manager. So you, my friend, are very lucky to have such a diligent and fast case manager, to have been on final approval already after less than a month, while the rest of us waited for 3months or more... I don't mean to be offensive nor rude, but it's probably not helping if you keep insisting that you know what we feel...
Sorry, I know its not you're fault, I just hope that my case manager would inherit some your case manager's diligence and finally get on with my application and give me that LOE....

exactly g3stalt... why is it that the rate of assessment is too slow. I mean. people should know which people are fast to assess and give to them those who are lagging behind. rather than bombarding someone who is a turtle to do a lot of work.

How are you gonna pay your schooling? the way i look at it. its really expensive here.. 100k? oh no my friend... its 220k atleast. =) thats the net already tax have been removed and everything thats what goes to your bank account every month. im getting roughly 200k just for working 75 hours per week. that is base excludine allowances. And i have another job that gives me additional 70K =). so Australia's salary is really that good...

I said I can understand how you feel because of a previous experience when I applied for another nursing job. The same scenario happened to me, and though it wasn't in AHPRA, it was equally frustrating. As for the AHPRA thing, I said I can only imagine how it must feel. I've had my share of "bad luck" along the years, believe me, which is what gave me license to say what I said.
In any case, I wish us all good luck.

I'm planning to borrow money from relatives (and I mean a lot of relatives) and the rest from a lending company... That's why I said I'll probably have a net of 100K only, with all the debts that I'll be paying.. That will probably be my net for the 1st or 2nd years in australia...
Wow, you earn a pretty good amount already. I wish I could reach that amount when I finally work there even with the debts....
