New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

@ Mr E-nigma :crying2: yeah right . .and then we will be counting back to zero. . . I will call AHPRA-WA tomorrow. I will let you know if they are consistent with their answers. They told me last week (MARCH 6) that in a couple of weeks they will get in touch with me about the outcome of the assessment. :sniff:

thats what they were also telling me every time I call them.. in a COUPLE OF WEEKS. I know couple means two.. but for them... its a lot of weeks.. they are consistent with their answer.. always the term "couple"

@ladydee-rn

problem in here was if we transfer the docs.. hopefully SA isnt the same situation as WA. i mean maybe right now many papers are on their way to that state..

thats true. i think thats what happened to ahpra wa, i mean everybody posted how fast they were, and now they got a deluge of applications. i just haven't heard any loes being released by AHPRA WA lately. its a big question mark?

I think she lodged her application at ahpra vic june 2011, then transferred it to ahpra wa august 2011. then she got her loe around december. it still took another 3 months before she got her letter.

Hi! If you wish to transfer your documents just email your Case manager that you want to do so. No payment/s needed. :)

Hi . .did u transfer your application too? What state did you apply? . .Thanks

I'm planning to go this April 18th,,,, I think i will be staying with my sister.. I dont have extra money for the accommodation near burwood. She's also in sydney, so it will be much cheaper on my side.

Awww, good on you! I'm leaving on the 18th as well! I've already booked my flight (with PAL). It was the cheapest flight available. Anyway, can you let me know if your sister knows of any other Filos who are renting out rooms or something like that? I already found a room to stay which is VERY NEAR to CON (3 minutes walk). But I really want to live with someone doing the BP as well. Or with Filos to say the least.

Hi! Their reply time varies greatly. I usually get a reply within 7 working days but sometimes, it may get delayed to up to 2 weeks or more. I'm sorry but I still don't have the PM feature of allnurses. You can PM me instead and I think my reply will go through. (but I can't personally initially send a PM to other members since I still haven't got the minimum required number of posts or something like that... teehee!)

Thanks... but I was surprised because they replied already last tuesday... They said that their office is tues-fridaythr..

They also said that the April intake was full.. But go4dgold said that there will be a May intake... I hope that's true and that I will be able to get the LOE on time...

UPDATE.UPDATE.UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!

I just spoke to AHPRA-SA, they told me that they assess applications like in 2-3 months up to 6 months(max) depending on the complexity of the application and compliance to added documents. And I asked how to transfer documents from WA-SA. she told me some can be accessed in their data base while some needed to be posted. you can email the case officer if you want to transfer. they said they had FEW applicants but they are managing it quite well. any takers???

Thanks for the info.. I truly hope that 6months is their maximum...But it will REALLY BE GREAT if its less than 6 months...

Goodluck on your LOE! I think CON opens "special intake dates" to accomodate a great number of applicants. Just like last year, I think their October intake was not originally in their course dates. (I am not sure, please don't quote me on this. Hahaha!) How long have you been waiting now for your LOE?
