New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

AHPRA received my documents last Nov 7, 2011, got my final approval letter feb.28 2012.. So that's 4 months now... Hopefully, I receive the LOE before May 2012, if there really is a CON May intake...
Did you lodge yours in AHPRA NSW? I hope you are luckier than I. I waited for 8 months for my LOE. I really hope you get it very very very soon! Word of advice, prepare your visa application requirements at the soonest possible time.
oh my!!! 8 months is extremely long!!! im losing my hopes for con's assessment for july :(were you able to submit all the requirements, or did you lack some? they say it greatly affects the process.byt the way, may i know

when should i request for the official copy of ielts result and certificate of good standing? should i wait for ahpra to ask me for these documents or can i just send it on the same day i pass my application?

i did not lack any requirements. i was not notified to submit any additional documents. and yes, i submitted my ielts results, prc certificates, all related documents that i could think of (even if they were not directly stated in the form/checklist) at the same day i personally lodged my application. i had my mom send them to sydney. sorry, i've been ediing this post for the nth time because its been a long while since i did the application process. dementia much? hahaha! they told me it was better to bombard them with supporting documents because these could help speed up the application. but i guess that wasn't the case for me. i still waited for 8 months to get my loe. patience is indeed a virtue. and who would better test your patience than ahpra nsw! hahahaha!

@Iamnomad :)Thanks for the words of encouragement. How are you? Did you find a job already?

.

No, I'm still looking for a job. I guess that's one of the disadvantage of not having to do a bridging program. Because those who did the BP (or who are doing it) were lucky (will be) enough to be physically in Australia and so they can search for jobs or have first hand access to different hospitals because of the clinical placement. I, on the other hand, relies on online job applications. And the time difference isn't helping.

No, I lodge mine in AHPRA-WA... I really hope the delay was just because of the holidays and I hope to God that they keep the pace up... Thanks for the advice... I am trying to complete some visa requirements, even the

immunization requirements of CON... May I ask, what problems you encountered after the LOE up to the visa application? They might be the same as mine in the future... thanks..

Hmmm, lemme think. The only main problem I had was the delay in the grant of my visa (reason why I didn't get in the January intake) I lodged my application during the December Holiday season in the Philippines. So that added to the delay. I didn't have any major problems with CON. I completed my serology tests and 1 shot of something (lol) in Sydney. And it was all for free! Yay to health insurance! Hahaha! But if you have any questions, don't hesistate to ask me. I can't guarantee that I can give you the answers but I'll try my best to help. ^_^

CON follows the NSW Health Occupational Screening, Vaccination, blah blah Guidelines. I could send it to your email if you want. Or you could also check it online (there's a link in the CON's website)
