Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Remote area nursing is a SPECIALTY , and you need many years of experience before they will consider you as an applicant. Many of the areas also need you to have medication endorsement that you achieve through study. You usually need post grad. icu degree and midwifery degree. There is also the cultural aspect of working with indigenous people that international nurses would not be aware, some of this is taught in Australin nursing degrees.
Remote is just that, remote, you are it and a colleague if you are lucky, it is difficult for nurses educated here to break into.
ouch!:uhoh21:
At least you survived! And your just a few miles away from the people you know, as they are just in Australia...I hope I won't need to stay in a remote place even for a week... A day would be good for the experience.. but a week? hmmm... hope not...
its like our exposure in CHN in the Philippines. were in we stay with the community. our cells were confiscated for 2 weeks as part of the experience, thats how our school does COPAR.
NSW! added to my search list! lol!
when you finally get a job... don't forget to update us how hard/easy it was and where you finally found a job... If all goes well and I do end up being in CON by july, my course concludes on September and my AHPRA registration will be complete by October...It will be a nice birthday gift
