New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

gulp! gulp! is that how remote is remote??? no cellphones?? uhmm.. i think i'd have to consider that again... lol!

yes. community towns in the north doesnt have cp signals. and your clients would be mostly natives of the country. there are some remote areas which are better. its just you the need to look this out.

Remote area nursing is a SPECIALTY , and you need many years of experience before they will consider you as an applicant. Many of the areas also need you to have medication endorsement that you achieve through study.

You usually need post grad. icu degree and midwifery degree. There is also the cultural aspect of working with indigenous people that international nurses would not be aware, some of this is taught in Australin nursing degrees.

Remote is just that, remote, you are it and a colleague if you are lucky. into.

perth was actually my 1st choice because i heard a lot of good things about the place... i was planning to be on the [color=#333333]04-june-2012 perth bp course of ihna... but while i was searching for jobs, especially for or nurses, there are a lot more opportunities in nsw. that's why i opted to go to con in july...

still without the piece of paper loe, we are all stucked in the middle of nothingness. i wont mind taking bp anywhere as long as its bp. had relative across all australia. im considering con, but vchn in perth is my first bet. good rotations to tertiary hospitals.

yes, exactly. so grab if there is a job. irregardless of the nature or where. after that then go on with your life.. to be true even as a PR a hospital in the remote area is willing to hire people. like me. good thing is everything is almost free... bad thing. far from civilization.

I'm ok with remote as long as there is big money involve... But no cellphone signals??? That's just harsh, especially if the only people you know are a thousand miles away (philippines)....

yeah but as i was saying not all remote areas require that. its a bit hard to work with indigenous people coz some of them dont speak english. need to have short course for their language as a basic.

You're really so lucky to have that choice... You're right, without LOE, we are stucked as we are now, no matter where we want to do our BP....

You also need education in their culture.

At least you survived! And your just a few miles away from the people you know, as they are just in Australia...I hope I won't need to stay in a remote place even for a week... A day would be good for the experience.. but a week? hmmm... hope not...

I wont say that im lucky. coz if you start in there you wont grow. i mean.. youll be stucked there.. having an RN degree opens a lot of doors and opportunities.
