Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Okay, you may call me the unluckiest nurse on earth...
To cut the loooong story short,
I successfully finished my application for Overseas' Nurse Program (ONP)
for registration to United Kingdom's Nursing and Midwifery Council (Yup, I am certain I'm on the right thread)...
I have received NMC's decision letter, and I am to take the 20-day adaptation program.
I rang already about a quarter and a half of the long list of NMC's recommended universities/institutions
where I could finally have my ONP, only to learn that the nursing climate have drastically changed over the past few months,
so most of the schools have already stopped the program,
or are still running the program, but is required to be in UK first with both Working and Student Visas in order to be accepted...
To cut it shorter, I lost hope.
And I am currently looking for alternatives.
And I'm thinking of trying it out with Australia.
But, considering my previous experience with UK's NMC (Oh my, thinking about all of the documents I have tediously collected, not to mention all of the time, effort, and money spent makes me wanna kill myself, haha),
I can't help to be a bit skeptic and ponder that the exact same scenario might happen to me in Australia.
Anyone wanna share their two cents on this?
Please wish that I haven't yet killed myself so I could read your replies, aha...
Thanks!
:)
Hello. I am currently waiting for my AHPRA WA letter of eligibility since November 1. The sad part about it was I submitted it first in July 2011 in AHPRA VIC and it took me 3 months there and they still haven't got a case manager for my docs to be assessed. I was so depressed about it because my friends who applied in AHPRA WA got theirs for only a month so I decided to have my application transferred to WA. it arrived there Nov. 1 and still it has been more than 3 months now in WA office and no luck.I was surprised to hear that some who submitted their application to VIC got their LOE quick. And the sad part is I didn't even have any problems with my docs because both VIC and WA emailed me that mine was complete. So the question is, why is it taking too long for me?Am I just plain UNLUCKY?I really want to start bp here in Melbourne soon. I have been calling AHPRA WA office like crazy and they just always tell me that it's on it's final stage of approval. How long could that be because they told me that a month ago.I am planning to take a bp course in MERCY HEALTH TRAINING INSTITUTE or ACFE. Both are in Melbourne.I have been waiting since July 2011 from VIC to WA office.
Not unlucky, not critical thinking! The usual, if I believe strong enough it will happen, without thinking before action. It is estimated that approx there are 350,000 nurses worldwide hoping to get work and pr in Australia, if 2 say an APHRA office is processing applications quicker then how many nurses do you think on this forum alone are going to try to be quicker assessment than the other? Good luck though hope it will be soon,Victorian office will be soon flooded with applications becauses they have processed an application quickly.
