Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

I submitted mine to AHPRA NSW, assessment took 9 months and the eligibility letter is valid for 1 year

i am BP hunting now, anyone already in for CON next year?

UPDATE for Assessment time and Expiration Year/s for each AHPRA Offices:

NSW - 9 months for 1 year validity (9 months complete documents upon submission?)

ACT - 3 months 1 year validity

WA - 2 months, 2 years validity

other STATE please.. thanks!

I got a letter of offer from AAON today. Just want to ask if AAON is an accredited BP provider? I already looked at the AHPRA website to check on this, but only the Uni of Ballarat was listed there. Perhaps, they are also accredited because they are associated with Ballarat. Your thoughts, anyone?

My thoughts: Every campus is noted of an education program are noted on the programs of accreditation, for example, Monash university runs the Bachelor of Nursing at several campuses, so with AHPRA it states under approved Bachelor of Nursing programs, Monash University, memberula campus, Gippsland campus, Berwick campus.

Also with RMIT under Bachelor of Nursing, Hamilton campus, Bundoora campus.

Unfortunately with the bridging course approved for University of Ballarat it does not state the different providers.

AHPRA has to agree that these providers are providing an approved program whether under University of Ballarat or not.

I would ring University of Ballarat first before paying any money. It has been with the past state nursing boards that the place that runs the course has to be approved not who they are affiliated with.

I have an offer of place from LTU for their May intake but i did not accept it because I applied for their January intake but unfortunately it was filled-up fast. Better to apply now if you're planning to take your BP in La trobe, their are many applicants for limited slots.

I called the embassy earlier this morning in order to clarify about the IELTS. The said requirement is somehow not included in the basic requirements for 456 business visa BUT it can increase the chance of an applicant to be granted the said visa. if that will be the case, i probable do my retake of IELTS next year. I cant afford for another IELTS result with one of the grades below 7.

did you ask the embassy that if the applicant got a below 6 on the IELTS score,will they still grant the visa?

unfortunately,my pedia doctor is not around anymore and i don't have any immunization record.what i did, i consulted one of the pedia doctor here in the hospital i'm working and she just gave me adult doses of the required vaccines and she will make certifications as my proof that i have been vaccinated.

yep! i asked them as well. no reply until now. if my october 22 exam fails, i will do a retake on december. please update me on your visa application. thanks for the info about the vaccination requirement.

whats the point of asking if youre planning to submit early 2012? :confused:

the duration from application to receipt of the AHPRA eligibility letter is not fixed because

there are a lot of factors that can delay your application.

also, why are you asking for the expiration?

there is no point in what youre doing. better read this thread, use the search box, and

apply as soon as you can. a lot of forumers here who are already in australia keep on saying

that the competition for nursing position is veryyyyyyyyy stiff. in addition to that, schools that

are offering BP are decreasing. so why wait if you can do it now?

dont waste your time waiting for replies to your query. again, there is no use in getting those info.

but if you think that what you are doing is beneficial to you then go ahead, continue.

i was assessed by AHPRA-QLD. it took me 4 months before i received my eligibility letter.

Hi joiemike thank you for the reply, I am indeed blessed to be able to find an employer even before I am registered with AHPRA. By the way do you have a no further stay on your visa? That is part of my dilemma because they might issue me a visa with a no further stay clause and I'm hoping that they won't since I already have a sponsor.

Hello, would you care to share how were you able to find an employer as early as now? you are really blessed to have found one even before you had your registration and I hope you would also be kind enough to share to us this beneficial information. thank you in advance :):):)
