New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

as far as I read the thread, i cant see anyone who applied to other AHPRA State offices like SA, NT, NSW, Tasmania who can give us an idea if they assess application faster?

thanks

Hi All,

I just want to share my timeline in AHPRA VIC Registration

July 11, 2011 - AHPRA confirmed receipt of my application via email

July 29, 2011 - Preliminary Assessment begun, email said updates will be within 1-8weeks.

October 10, 2011 - I phoned AHPRA to enquire about registration status but AHPRA person said that there are no updates yet.

October 20, 2011 - Email saying I lack documents like Certificate of Good Standing aka Stateboard Verification; I insisted that I have already confirmed that one by calling AHPRA last August; Registration officer apologised and gave me the long-awaited Eligibility letter for bridging course.

Yahooo! Now, who's enrolling for next year's BP? Please PM me. As far as I know, there are no more vacancies for any school this year, noh?

Congratulations Stereo!:yeah:

I also applied in AHPRA VIC. I'm just wondering, did they grant you the eligibility letter on the same day that they asked for lacking documents? Did you call or email them? TIA:)

ACT is taking waaaay past their "given processing times". I've been waiting for 3 months now. I guess it's still a decent wait time compared to other states.

Yes. It is exactly 3 months since I lodged my application. At first they told me it's 8 weeks before they can complete (take note they said "complete", not receipt or application or assignment of case manager) the assessment/application. But they also told me that they've been getting a lot of overseas applications. Mhai, a member here, submitted hers in ACT and it took her less than 2 months before she got her eligibility (if I remember it correctly).

Congratulations erikadioza!

I also received an email on Oct 20 from my registration officer asking for theoretical hours and course outline. You can try to inquire from your school about this matter. From my school, our TOR only reflects the grades and units per subject. We don't have the theoretical hours in our TOR. However, they can be found in our course outline. Maybe I'll just submit a letter to my school explaining this circumstance so they can attach it upon mailing the documents to AHPRA. I already requested from my school for these and hopefully, will be able to send them by Thursday. As for the Cert of Good Standing, you have to go to PRC, request for the document and let PRC send them for you.

Just to share my timeline:

June 24 2011 - Sent my documents to AHPRA VIC

July 8 2011 - AHPRA VIC sent me receipt of application thru email

July 27 2011 - AHPRA VIC sent another email re: Overseas Preliminary Assessment (I was also given a reference number)

October 20, 2011 - AHPRA asked for additional documents (theoretical hours, course outline)

Guys, just wondering...how long does AHPRA usually reply after requesting for additional documents? I hope and pray it won't take them three more months before granting the eligibility letter.

They emailed me my eligibility letter a week after 1 sent them my lacking documents. Yours should be arriving soon.

Thanks razektine!:) What a relief! Glad to hear from you:) Hopefully, I'll get my eligibility soon:) Praying for the best results:)

Hi everyone, I already have an employer who will sponsor me for a 457 visa and my contract will start late quarter of next year. I have the eligibility letter from AHPRA and I am currently applying to bp schools for me to be registered in time. I am a bit confused how I will answer the question on the 456 application which states "do you intend to enter Australia more than once? If yes, give details." I will definitely answer a 'yes' to this but do you think I should elaborate on the fact that I already have an employer and should I attach my offer of employment? Thank you and kind regards. Please enlighten me.

Hi everyone,

I just want to ask if Australian embassy do require a flat 7 IELTS test result in all category? This is one of the things I dread since I don't have an IELTS with flat & score and I already have my offer letter for BP which will be on January 30th. Oh God, Im panicking now.. help me!..

Hi, that is fortunate of you to have an employer willing to sponsor your working visa even before you have your license. Anyway, to answer your first question, I answered "yes" - reason "to follow up and claim my nursing registration from AHPRA". To your next question though, I wouldn't know since I haven't done that. But if I were to give my opinion, I wouldn't tell the embassy about your situation having a ready employer. You might just be subjected to more questions from the consul. And besides, your reason on the first answer should be sufficient enough for them to grant you a multiple entry visa. Multiple entry visas are usually granted depending on your personal circumstances.

I am presently undergoing my clinical placement here in Sydney. Hopefully, will be done end of Nov and get my license on the 1st or 2nd week of Dec. In my case, I have a multiple entry 456 visa. I decided not to extend my stay this Dec because I have to come home for the holidays to spend time with my kids. But before leaving, I will already have submitted job applications to various employers. There are a lot of job opportunities here as of the moment both in the hospital and aged care. Hopefully, I can impress the hospital where I'm having my placement now for them to give me a good referral.

Cheers to you and everyone going through the path we have all taken. God bless. :)

There are two options. You can retake the exam this month, Dec, or even Jan before the start of the intake. Or, you can submit your reason for not having one. :)
