New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Hi guys! It's good to be back and reading current posts.

I was the one who got eligibility as EN but was later informed, unfortunately, that I couldn't get a working visa after BP as EN. I asked AHPRA to reconsider my application for registration as RN. I hope I get positive result of that.

Anyhoo, just wondering if I did pursue EN and I am on a fiance visa... can I actually get an EN job still? I'm not sure really of the possibilities. But if I am on this type of visa, I could stay longer and work... but what happens if I don't marry the person? =) Then I guess that is the end of AU for me? Because I can't get a working visa. And that is the only thing that can save me right?

Any insights is highly appreciated!:nurse:

Yes HepB, i already sent all the documents they asked me, including the syllables and theoretical and clinical units yet i have not received any email from them that my documents are all complete.

I am a little bit anxious since i have not yet the BON-New Mexico forwarded my Licensure verification. I tried to email their office and called them but got no reply :confused:

I checked their website and i found a form for a verification of license but im not really sure if this is the one i will be filling up so i can send it to the BON-NM, can you check this one if this the form ill be using? (http://www.bon.state.nm.us/forms/lic_verif_request_June08.pdf)

Thank you thank you so much!

I have no idea but it seems the right form. Try to call them again using other numbers. Calling them I think is the best way to follow up your concerns.

It took my application 2 months to get approved. I lodged mine in AHPRA-Perth. Just do follow-up from time to time thru e-mail. God bless.

Hi HepB I also lodged my application in AHPRA-WA last August and I'm still waiting for my LOE. Do hope to receive that same good news you just had :yeah: By the way, how did you follow-up the status of your application? Did you send your queries through their site? or did you email any specific person? Because I email them through their website, but I just got an automated email response :lol2:

Hello. I hope you could help me with my queries. I'm so confused right now. I can't sleep and reading blogs is one of my hobbies already.

I just want to know if student visa is good. I have a relative in melbourne. The problem is I don't know which course to take. I am a registered nurse in the Philippines. I have 2 years exp in a 30 bed capacity hosp.

I want to take the bridging course in Australia but the main problem is I wasn't able to get 7 in speaking. So the agency suggested to apply for a student visa. The agent said I need to take a 2 year course. I can't take up nursing because the diploma in nursing is just 1.5 years. So I'm planning to take up Certificate in children's services. I thought it's related to nursing but i found out that it's more related to teaching. I don't know if I can get a good job after finishing that course.

Here are the related careers after finishing the course:

* child care assistants

* outside school hours care assistants

* playgroup supervisors

* recreation assistants

* family day care workers

* child care workers

I chose that course because it is a two year course and the school nearest to my aunt's place in Melbourne have that course.

However, my agent suggested to take up Diploma in disability or aged care. After reading the careers after graduation, nursing assistant is included there. It would be easy for me since I am a nurse but the school offering it is far from my aunt's place so I need to rent for a place near the school.

Another query is that, I want to know if I can take the bridging course after 1 sem. I will take the IELTS again before I leave the Philippines. Is switching from student visa to bridging course possible?

> how much will you spend overall if you take the 2 year course?

> how much will you spend if you do IELTS review 10x and take the ielts 10x? how much will you spend if you request for a special one-on-one session with your IELTS reviewer? compare the expenses..

> you want to spend and study diploma disability/aged care and later work as "caregiver" (nursing assistant)? And at work, here comes your fellow Filipino RN from an unknown provincial nursing school (like me) telling you to wipe the butt of a resident, and all this will happen because you did not get 7 in ielts? and deep in your heart you know that you are much better than me (which could really be true, i will not argue).. do you want that life/situation?

> please read page 01 of this thread..

> apple is different from a TV.. student "visa" is different from bridging "course".. visa is visa(legal approval to stay in a country), course is course(field you will study).. different mammals..

> you can take the bridging course anytime you want as long as you comply with all the AHPRA requirements and as long as you get enrolled in a BP school...

if you really want to get 7 ielts, after all your efforts, you still fail, well i am betting you did not spend 1-2 hours praying, right? i am right... at the end of the day, if you need help, and when everything fails, that's the time we remember to pray... if you are catholic, you should pray the rosary 2x a day, pray the angelus 3x a day, pray the 3-0-clock habit prayer.. etc. etc.... frankly speaking, people who could easily get what they want err do not need praying, but people like us, we need prayers..

it's your call.. good luck...

> you are on fiance visa... tell me, (and you should know it), are you allowed to work while on fiance visa or not? ask your agent or ask DIAC or read DIAC website, regarding the rules of you fiance visa... im familiar with other visa but not fiance visa, please check DIAC for your own good and protection..

> if you marry, you will get spouse visa and definitely you can work, even as an EN..

> YES, when you do not marry, everything falls apart..

Hello! I applied for LTU as well and paid them thru BPI telegraphic transfer. I filled out a form on an afternoon and the lady there said that they would be able to process it on the following day since they only do it (TT) during mornings. The university's financial department was able to receive it 3days after but I still sent a scanned copy of the receipt to the admission officer as soon as I got it just in case.

As for the student visa, all I was asked for was a declaration that I would be able to support my stay in Oz during the entire length of my visa/course. I applied online and got approved after a week. Are you planning on joining the January intake?

Thank you so much oceanspray for the information. I will be completing my enrollment within the week. Yes, I hope I can still catch up with the January intake. BTW, I was trying to find the application form for 575 visa but all that I can get is the checklist. Can you please help me on how to apply online for this visa? I will surely appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi!its been 2months since i last posted a comment here. I want to thank u all for your inputs,they are informative,uplifting and others are somewhat entertaining C: .i lodged my application in ahpra-wa and they have received my papers exactly 1 week ago since i tracked it on DHL's website. Should i contact ahpra now since i havent received any response from them? Which is better, to call or to email them? ...Im bp hunting while waiting from my letter,i emailed CON in NSW and they told me that i should email them on november,so does this mean that no applicants have been accepted yet for their 2o12 intake? Do u have an idea what month usually their prog commences? I really want to enrol in CON because i believe it is the only school in NSW that offers BP. Ill be staying at my cousin's house while doing the prog since they just live in abbotsbury... please include me in your prayers,im just as hopeful as you guys... I hope we can attain our australian dream soon! Thank you in advance C:

For me, you can give them another week to email you. I had lodged my application last July 26, and as i tracked down, they received it on July 29, yet they emailed me on Aug 3 acknowledging my application and my receipt of assessment.

To those who believe in prayers, please post your prayer request. Anything...about application, healing, personal struggles...etc. I'd be very happy to include you in my morning and evening prayer. It would be better if you join too. More prayers more power. Joint prayer is best. We can do it every 7am and 7pm. God is good all the time!

Thank you HepB. This post is really touching. This shows how united we are even though we don't personally know each other.

kudos to you! I will also include everyone in my prayers from now on. God bless to all of us especially to cioman, joiemike.. etc who have unselfishly shared their knowledge. You are the torch light for newbies here.

Thanks again. :yeah::yeah::yeah:

Hi! you know what, I would have been in that same situation have I not done my own research. I was referred to an agency assisting nurses to go to Australia doing unnecessary course for 2 years. They were offering me to do a community service kind of course while also having the luxury to work for up to 20 hours per week. BUT I did my own research since I was having doubts of spending so much which would not eventually lead me to a registered nurse there. Good thing I stumbled upon this thread while googling how to be an RN in Oz.:nurse: I started reading from the very first thread up to this second part and thank God! I was enlightened!

I suggest you read the first page of this thread first and then you'll find out :)

*Thank you allnurses for the bday greeting! :D
