Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

@makikay_rn
after a week I sent my documents through email I already received the offer. Although it took me 1 month to decide to accept it since I was waiting for other schools to respond yet. I don't know if there are still slots for the January 2012 intake though since a lot has been offered and accepted already from this thread including me, Razektine, Invanz, Oceanspray.
WOW that is really great HepB..Congrats to you:yeah:
After you lodge your application to WA, did they ask you for an additional requirements?
I sent mine last July 26, and received my receipt thru email plus they asked me some add req such asa syllables and theoretical and clinical units. From then on, i have not receive any email from them. It is more than one month now that i am waiting for a very positive reply from them.
Hopefully i can have mine soon..
Thanks makikay. Praise the Lord!
Yes, I received correspondence from AHPRA to supply such documentation. I wrote them to give me time since I am working fulltime. I also asked them to try reading the last two pages of my transcript of records (I scanned and attached them for easy reference) which indicated my clinical hours (was i rude? as if I'm saying... can't you see? it's right there.... after a month of processing at my school through phone, I received the documents AHPRA was asking (course outline) but on the day I was about to mail, I received an email from a registration officer informing me that all my documents are complete for assessment. The following day, I received my eligibility letter to undergo bp.
Have you supplied what they asked you?
To those who believe in prayers, please post your prayer request. Anything...about application, healing, personal struggles...etc. I'd be very happy to include you in my morning and evening prayer. It would be better if you join too. More prayers more power. Joint prayer is best. We can do it every 7am and 7pm. God is good all the time!
WOW!!! Congrats. Please give us a few details. How long did you wait from the time you lodge your application? May I know what proof of financial capacity you provided?
Thank you!!!
I first lodged my application in May and got my application letter by the end of August though I imagine it would've arrived much earlier had I been more careful of the documents that I sent to AHPRA. School application lasted about a week or 2 then the visa. I applied online last Sunday, did my medicals last Thursday and got approved just today (or is it yesterday already?). I never showed any bank accounts but I ticked the box declaring that I can provide for myself during my stay in Australia.

A thanksgiving prayer for me please :) Thanks, HepB. This is very thoughtful of you.

Hello. I hope you could help me with my queries. I'm so confused right now. I can't sleep and reading blogs is one of my hobbies already.
I just want to know if student visa is good. I have a relative in melbourne. The problem is I don't know which course to take. I am a registered nurse in the Philippines. I have 2 years exp in a 30 bed capacity hosp.
I want to take the bridging course in Australia but the main problem is I wasn't able to get 7 in speaking. So the agency suggested to apply for a student visa. The agent said I need to take a 2 year course. I can't take up nursing because the diploma in nursing is just 1.5 years. So I'm planning to take up Certificate in children's services. I thought it's related to nursing but i found out that it's more related to teaching. I don't know if I can get a good job after finishing that course.
Here are the related careers after finishing the course:
*child care assistants
*outside school hours care assistants
*playgroup supervisors
*recreation assistants
*family day care workers
*child care workers
I chose that course because it is a two year course and the school nearest to my aunt's place in Melbourne have that course.
However, my agent suggested to take up Diploma in disability or aged care. After reading the careers after graduation, nursing assistant is included there. It would be easy for me since I am a nurse but the school offering it is far from my aunt's place so I need to rent for a place near the school.
Another query is that, I want to know if I can take the bridging course after 1 sem. I will take the IELTS again before I leave the Philippines. Is switching from student visa to bridging course possible?
Hi andrea,
welcome to this forum.Your concern had been mentioned a lot of times on this thread by most forumers like Ceridwyn, joemike, bobby123 and others.. It is very helpful to start reading the thread from page 1 and surely you will be enlightened and come up with a good decision like what I experienced.
Goodluck and Godbless!
Hi guys! It's good to be back and reading current posts.
I was the one who got eligibility as EN but was later informed, unfortunately, that I couldn't get a working visa after BP as EN. I asked AHPRA to reconsider my application for registration as RN. I hope I get positive result of that.
Anyhoo, just wondering if I did pursue EN and I am on a fiance visa... can I actually get an EN job still? I'm not sure really of the possibilities. But if I am on this type of visa, I could stay longer and work... but what happens if I don't marry the person? =) Then I guess that is the end of AU for me? Because I can't get a working visa. And that is the only thing that can save me right?
Any insights is highly appreciated!
