Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

If a Filipino Citizen exits the Philippines under a "work visa", he/she needs OEC at the Phil. airport...
Sorry cioman94 I beg to differ from your statement because I am a Filipino citizen that had a 457 visa like Ceridwen and paid the terminal fee and travel tax instead of getting the OEC. Getting the OEC affords you additional benefits so if you have the time to do it, it is encouraged to go through the process of getting your OEC. Last 2009, I believe you can get it done at the airport, you just have to queue, so get there early.
I used to get my OECs faithfully every time I go on holiday in Manila. You can get your OEC from the embassy before you travel to the Philippines (if you are fortunate enough to live close to one). One day we forgot to get our OEC while abroad. Went to UN ave office to get our OEC....long queue...very long queue. Spent the whole day on my holiday to queue! Not ever doing that again. Next time we went to the airport and asked how to go about it. Told to pay the travel tax and then the terminal fee and that's it!
This is off-topic, sorry guys..just sharing. Those with 457 or work visa probably open a new thread. This might get confusing for this thread.
Yeah, the agency could have been right as far as the IELTS is concerned. But come Sept 19, it will definitely be IELTS for all of us Filipinos. And 7 in all categories is the minimum required score. Check the AHPRA website for yourself and don't take the agency's assurance or my word for it.As for the 3 months work experience whether paid or volunteer, it still is the same for AHPRA. But it's definitely higher for most bp schools.
Incidentally, I saw in one Philippine national newspaper yesterday an ad of a "consultancy firm" inviting RN's to attend their orientation seminar in various places in Metro Manila and Luzon. They are willing to sponsor and finance your becoming an RN in Australia. They even mentioned 14,000 RNs wanted!!! They will give priority and preference to RNs that have current and valid IELTS Test results of 7 in all bands. Why don't you check it if you like. I'm not suggesting that they are for real or bogus though. But if they are willing to finance your going through the bp and applying for a job, it won't hurt I guess. I would have gone to them just to listen to what they are offering.
(Note : This is not a solicitation. I might be reprimanded again by admin for this, I'm not sure. But every info and help we can get is definitely good, I guess.)
wow thanks sir! :) Good Luck by the way! well i guess i'll have to check on any other options. hehe

Best person to ask is the coordinator of CON. I'm assuming she already sent you the confirmation letter and the list of additional documents that we have to show them on our 1st day.
Good luck and see you soon!

thank you for sharing the information..... i dont argue with your facts, i believe it... i just have some concern though for others who will be going out of our country, i would rather advise them to get OEC just to be sure, because i have first hand knowledge of RNs stopped at airport because they dont have OEC.. nonetheless if they know what you know as you posted now, then perhaps they could have solved their situation... anyway, it just boils down to preference of doing things depending on the situation... but at least coming from you, we now know the other solution of how to address this situation of OEC... cheers mate!
Hi guys! Just got my eligibility letter today and I would like to thank all the contributors of this forum most especially to cioman=)Here is the time frame of my application with AHPRA Western Australia.
July 9, 2011: sent all documents to AHPRA
July 17: I received an email from AHPRA confirming receipt of documents.
July 21: I received another email from AHPRA stating that my documents are complete.
August 17: AHPRA said that my application is being assessed.
August 29: My assessor asked me to send Certificates of Good Standing from California and UK. I explained that I can not provide them these documents since I am not registered in both countries. I just passed the California NCLEX-RN and was assessed only by NMC. My assessor thanked me for the clarification and said that she had forwarded my application to the Senior Assessor.
Sept. 7: Got my eleigibility letter which is valid for 2 years through email=)
Again, thank you so much!! This forum has helped me and my friends process our application with AHPRA.=)
aw, i cant even remember your username or that if i did help you.. but i have slight dementia when it comes to names.... congratulations!! you are one of the lucky ones.. count your blessings and pay forward... welcome to Oz mate...
congratulations to all those who have their ahpra letters! that's a very big step to aussie dream!
Hi there CeridwynRN!!!
May I ask as to the exact length of time ( in weeks) from the moment you applied for the 457 Visa?
I will be at La Trobe next year. My IELTS will be expiring next year also on May 20.
If I'd be lucky to have an early exit at 9th week, then that would be by March 16.
If not, then I'll take the entire 13-week course. So that gives me April 13th as the completion date.
I'm actually kind of worried during processing for the 457 if my IELTS will expire before the Visa will be fully approved...
Thanks in advance for the helpful minds!

457 processing is just around 3 weeks... normal... if you have problems like something wrong with medicals or that you are a criminal then your application will be delayed..
hello peeps,
if you have a 456 visa, do you need to have a round trip (two-way) ticket back home even if you are planning to extend or apply for a different visa after your bp?
are the immigration officers in australia strict when it comes to this?
thanx :)
God bless to those who will be having their September and October intakes!
hello cioman94!I got 4 employers before, can anyone of them sign my CV or all of them? Yes, i sent all my certificate of my hospital training with all duly signed by my employer, however it was just a certified copies since if il send my original copies i wont have my own copy for the future. Is it ok?
Fortunately, my request for my theoritical units (with HOURS) has been granted by my school, so il just send it as soon as il receive it.
Thank you God!
Thank you so much cioman for your response
Certified copies of your work certificate is fine .If you can arranged your 4 employers to sign on your CV then do it. If one or two is not possible then explain it and include it on your CV . e.g * I worked in Saudi Arabia before so it is not feasible for me ..... I think NurseNathalie submitted a CV without her employers signature. Try to contact her if AHPRA asked her to submit a revised CV with employers signature or just to be sure, call AHPRA or your registration case officer :) Good luck
