New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Hi everyone,

I just received my passport today. I was granted by the Australian Embassy a 1 year multiple entry business short stay (456) visa that allows me to be in Australia 3 months per entry. I was amazed by how smooth and fast the process was. I lodged my visa application Sept 2. Received text message that the Embassy received my application Sept 5. Received text message this morning that my passport has been dispatched already. Received a parcel from 2go at 1pm today containing my passport and the original supporting documents. It only took 4 days!!! God is so good!!!!

The multiple entry is such a blessing because I will come home after the bp to be with my family for the holidays. It won't be a hassle for me to immediately go back after the New Year to claim my RN license and start job hunting!!!!

To everyone out here, THANK YOU for all your support and advices!!!!

To everyone still in the process, keep up the faith and don't lose hope. "Everything will always work together for good!!!"

congratulations!!! i am so happy for you!

how about getting a student visa? why did you decide to get a 456?:nurse:

Hi joiemike congratulations!.Did you present your eligibility for a bridging program on your 456 visa application?

congratulations!!! i am so happy for you!

Student visa is applicable only to CROCIS accredited schools/unis and courses. The visa also takes 6 to 8 weeks to process and a lot more expensive. I didn't have time to process it since I only had a 6 week window before my Oct 3 intake starts at ETEA.

Anyway, the 456 visa suited me perfectly fine because, as I said, I am coming home for the holidays. I will have another 3 months to find an employer to sponsor my working visa by the time I come back to Melbourne in January. :yeah::lol2::yeah:

Hi guys! Just got my eligibility letter today and I would like to thank all the contributors of this forum most especially to cioman=)

Here is the time frame of my application with AHPRA Western Australia.

July 9, 2011: sent all documents to AHPRA

July 17: I received an email from AHPRA confirming receipt of documents.

July 21: I received another email from AHPRA stating that my documents are complete.

August 17: AHPRA said that my application is being assessed.

August 29: My assessor asked me to send Certificates of Good Standing from California and UK. I explained that I can not provide them these documents since I am not registered in both countries. I just passed the California NCLEX-RN and was assessed only by NMC. My assessor thanked me for the clarification and said that she had forwarded my application to the Senior Assessor.

Sept. 7: Got my eleigibility letter which is valid for 2 years through email=)

Again, thank you so much!! This forum has helped me and my friends process our application with AHPRA.=)blank.gif

Hi joiemike congratulations!.Did you present your eligibility for a bridging program on your 456 visa application?

It pays to be more thorough in presenting supporting docs for the visa application. The visa processing of a friend was delayed because the Embassy asked her to present her IELTS test report form and the AHPRA eligibility letter. So, as a favor and advice to all who were not able to read my previous post, here are what I submitted to the Embassy :

1. Visa 456 Application Form

2. Original & Photocopy of Passport

3. Orig & xerox of Official Receipt of Medical Screen

4. Orig & xerox of Letter of Offer from bp school

5. Cert copy of Bank Transfer as proof of full/partial payment for tuition fee

6. Orig & xerox of AHPRA Letter of Eligibility

7. Cert copy of current IELTS Test Report Form

8. Orig & xerox of Proof of Funds from Bank

9. Orig & xerox of Cert of Employment from hospital

10. Orig & xerox of Letter of Support from my cousin in Aus w/ their Aus Passports & current Income Tax Returns

11. Cert copies of previous passports/visas showing previous travels to other countries esp to those requiring visas.

(Note : don't worry about presenting orig docs, they returned all my orig docs together with the passport.)

Hope this helps to guide those also in the process or will be applying for visas in the future. I reckon these documents to, also, be applicable to other visas like tourist or student visa. :D

Congratulations ceridwenRN!!! I remember before when we were still applying for our eligibility until we received it and became classmates @ CON, you were one of those who was soooo anxious and worried, very pessimistic (super nega) lol BUT look at you now!!! See, you got a job after your program and you got a 457 visa now, so count your blessings and give thanks to God, to your loved-ones and friends :)

Why don't you try to ask your NUM for another week of extension? Just explain to her your predicament, call her :p its better to be honest, who knows your stress will be lesser when you do so :) Goodluck my friend! See you in Sydney soon!

Then on Aug 4 i received the receipt of my registration and its been assessed. After that i havent received any email from them. Hopefully the outcome will be positive same as yours.

God is good ;)
