Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

thanks for the reply. when did you send your application? have you received you eligibility letter? And how much did it cost to send through LBC? thanks!!
Hi again netzkee. I sent my application last August 26 (I think) then received a confirmation from them last August 31. No, I still don't have the eligibility letter.
It cost me, P1200. :)
Hi, need help guys! I got a 456 visa without a "no further stay" clause...meaning I can apply for a tourist visa to extend my stay, right? Should I book a roundtrip ticket when I have plans of extending my stay? I was thinking...won't I be having problems with the immigration if I book a one-way ticket?

Hi isingrn!
Right on, you can apply for a tourist visa after. In my opinion, but of course I could be wrong, they didn't impose the no further stay condition on your visa because they are aware of your intent of getting work after the bridging program, so I assume it wouldn't be a big deal for them if you only get the one-way ticket. You were given the privilege of not having the condition so you might as well use it as a reason if and when they asks you. I'll be more concerned about it if I had the 8503 condition/no further stay condition imposed on my visa (which unfortunately was my case ) because you really have no option but to exit Australia and a round trip ticket will help you get through unnecessary stress with the immigration people as you enter Oz land. And also, always bear in mind and make sure that you have a valid visa during you stay in AUS and never overstay. Just my two cents. :)
@joiemike -> hello! so what type of visa did you guys get? 456 or the tourist one? how long do they process each?
I like your posts. they can help a lot of people.
mercy replied to me also. are you and mhai really going for the ETEA october intake?
how do you go about the health insurance? is it included in the application form?
was your ielts scores expiring when you applied with the visa?
thank you joiemike.

I lodged my visa 456 friday, sept 2. They told me that it will take at most 10 working days (so that's 2 weeks) to process.
Mhai and I are definitely going for the ETEA Oct intake.
My niece suggested I just get the health insurance in Melbourne. It's advantageous to get a local reputable company. They can easily be contacted and can immediately attend to your urgent needs should anything untoward happen.
As I plan to fly there on the 29th, she will pick me up at the airport. We are just going to ride a bus to my place. I found 2 prospective homestays just across the street from ETEA. She will be going there to check on these places and negotiate with the landlord this weekend.
When I arrive, the first thing we're doing is open a local bank account, apply for cellphone line, and get health insurance.
Because my previous ielts test result will expire sept 26, I took the test again July 30. So, I have a new ielts test report form now. I immediately asked IDP to forward the new test report form to AHPRA for their file. Will call them next week to confirm if they have received it already.
Should I be eligible for an early exit from the bp (I will really try my best), I will complete all the necessary documents mentioned in the AHPRA letter immediately. Whether or not I get a "no further stay", I have decided to come home for the holidays to be with my wife and kids. It will take about 2 to 3 weeks for AHPRA to release my license anyway, especially that they will have a holiday break. I will fly back to Melbourne after the new year, claim my license and apply for a job.
I put all my trust in the Lord for all my plans. He surely has guided me every step of the way. As the Bible says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path".
@joiemike
wow! GOD BLESS sir. Do good to aim for an early exit!
How much did you pay for the 456 visa? did you lodge them to the australian embassy personally or by mail? is a personal interview needed for the 456 visa? once they release it, will they mail it to you or will you claim it personally? when do you get to submit your passport to the embassy?
sir, did you present bank statements as well?
sir, did you present only an NBI clearance for the character profile?
I can not pm you sir yet. I still have less than 20 posts. Thanks for replying sir.
I am still waiting for ETEA's response. If it comes, I hope that I will still have time to do the medicals and visa application prior to commencing with the October intake.
Mercyhealth contacted me also sir with the same e-mail. I am looking also into getting in their November intake. I hope that I will do good with the interview.
God bless!

456 visa - P5,700 payt thru manager's check
676 visa - P5,300
Submitted application personally. No more personal interview. Your passport and orig supporting docs will be returned to your principal place of residence through courier.
If you want to fast track your visa application, you do your medical screens now before you lodge your visa application. Just tell the clinic that it's for a subclass 456 visa. That way, your visa processing will be cut down to 3 to 4 working days. It's the review of the medical results that makes the application longer to process.
Actually, the only "required" documents for the 456 visa are the following :
1. 456 visa appliction
2. 2 pcs recent passport size photo
3. Valid passport and 1 photocopy of your passport details
4. BP school letter of offer (original & xerox) - note : original could be the scanned letter of offer that your bp
school has emailed you
5. Official Receipt from the clinic for the medical screen (original & xerox)
But the embassy told me to also submit documents that I want to include in the application to support my visa application. So I submitted the following :
a. Cert. copy of the Bank Transfer the proves I paid my tuition fee in full already
b. Original and xerox of my AHPRA letter of eligibility
c. Cert. copy of my current, valid IELTS Test Report Form
d. Orig. certification of proof of funds from my bank
e. Orig. emailed letter of support from my Aust. citizen cousin (husband & wife) with both their passports and current income tax returns (proving they have money to support me)
f. Orig & photocopy of Cert. of Employment showing I'm a staff nurse
g. Cert. copies of my previous passports showing trips to other countries esp. to those requiring travel visas.
I hope I have submitted enough evidence for the consul to see
that I am there for legitimate reasons and will not go "TNT"...

I'm so happy guys, I finally have my 456 visa, personally picked it up yesterday at the VIA Center. It doesn't have a 'No further stay' condition so I guess like isingrn I will also apply for a 676 once I use up my 90 days. But my question is, I was also given multiple travel so how would that work? When I apply for the 676 there will my multiple 456 be cancelled?
God is so good! First I was worried about my IELTS, thinking I might not get the required scores this time but by the grace of God I passed again! Then the problem with my visa came but God ironed things out for me so I'm able to meet the deadline of CON to furnish them a copy of my visa. Just keep on praying guys! For those who are just starting with the whole process, be patient and never ever give up praying

Were you also given a multiple travel 456? If yes, how do you think can we go about extending our stay for more than 90 days? I already bought a round-trip ticket way before I received my visa but it's okay coz I can always re-book the return for later. My question is, will our multiple 456 be cancelled should we opt to apply for a 676 while we're still there? Plane fares are so expensive that's why I wouldn't want to come back here then go back to AU after a few weeks just to look for work...
