New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Hi guys! Just a quick query. I sent my application to VIC last June 24 and received a receipt of my application on July 8. They then sent me email on July 27 re: Overseas Preliminary Assessment. Is this their usual timeline? I heard that it takes them longer in processing compared to other areas. Also, I noticed that I wasn't given a case officer yet, only a reference number. To those who got their eligibility, when do they usually assign one? I'm just wondering since I really want to start BP early next year.

It would be better to apply for a 456 months before the first day of BP in the sense that you won't be stressed out or in a hurry to have your visa in time for your class (like what's happening to me now :D). However, I think most of us aim for a multiple 456 because we want to be sure we have enough time to look for employers and we can legally enter Australia several times until we are successful in finding a sponsor. Applying for a visa months earlier would mean shorter time to look for employers after the BP because I think the embassy indicates the start of the validity date of the visa on the day they decide to grant us that visa. Kindly correct me if I'm wrong here as I'm also uncertain of this. In the case of my husband and son, they were granted a multiple 676. Of course they won't be undergoing BP but I just want to cite their visa as example. They applied for the visa on July 27. We indicated that their intended date of travel would be on October 15, 2011. We received their visas last August 11. Validity of their visas is from August 10, 2011 until August 10, 2012. Now they can travel in and out of Australia multiple times within that period. Again correct me if I'm wrong please but assuming this will be the same or at least similar to a multiple 456 then applying for a 456 months before the BP will only be worth it if we can go to Australia and look for employers before our BP starts. But most forumers who are already in AU advise us that only a few employers would entertain our applications without AHPRA registration or at least proof that the applicant is currently undergoing BP. Hmmm... maybe a couple of months before the BP would be best?

Then again if we can maximize the 90 days stay and apply for a 676, then that would be a better scenario. But I think 456 almost always has a no futher stay condition.

But hey, what am I saying? I'm supposed to be thinking positive and praying that our first 90 days would be enough for BP and finding sponsorship, right?!

Applying for a tourist visa before the three-month stay lapses would be the better option in my opinion.I think it would be more economical to take the BP first than going to Australia ahead of time and apply for jobs. You won't stand out in the crowd if you don't have a registration or at least undergoing the BP. I disagree that 456 almost always has a "no further stay". It depends on the case officer and various factors such as finances to support yourself while in Australia. Good luck on your BP!Cheers!

hi! going for a visit visa after the 456..does it need to have anothr huge amt of money in your acct for the visa app. of this? if yes..how much like??? nor if anyone knows what are the requirements for a visit visa applying in Au after the BP...

sharing ur knowledge is highly appreciated regarding this matter. t.y :)

should i choose deakin or la trobe over etea or mercy?

does the school where the student attended his BP, matters?

Do you have Letter of Offer from each of these schools already?

How long before Deakin responded to your application?

I'm still waiting for their reply. It's been almost a week already:confused:

Did they mention when is the next possible intake? :)

Hi, with ETEA, I sent my application in 20 Jul. They initially asked me if I wanted to take the slot for the Jan 2012 intake as the October intake is already full, I didn't reply immediately as I was waiting for other schools to respond. Surprisingly, they sent me a Letter of Offer for the October intake the other day. ETEA is so close to where my relatives live but like joiemike, it wasn't my first choice because of the tuition fee.

Btw, God is so good as He gave me another choice - AAON. I'm just waiting for my 456 visa, hoping for it to be with a "with further stay" clause, or better yet, a multiple entry. :D And much more important, hoping for it to come on time, as the program starts 8 Sept.

So to everyone, keep on praying. All will be well in God's precious time. :)

You don't have to dig for another buried treasure to apply this for this visa. You can use the same account/s when you applied for the 456. As far as I know, you need medicals (the one you had when you applied for the 456 will suffice), bank statements, passport. I can't recall all of it so please check the immigration website for the complete list of requirements. Cheers mate!

@judfort: You must NOT have a 'no further stay' condition on your 456 visa to apply for the visit visa.

what is your basis? im asking because if this is true then IDP was lying when i inquired.

This is based on the situation of my cousin now,she studied for aged care certificate 3, she applied for a six months student visa and was granted, believing the fact that she can apply for extension for if she had applied for a 1 year student visa then it follows that the show money she'll be preparing is huge too,but her application for extension was denied even though she had already enrolled for the midyear intake, the embassy told her that student visas lasting for less than six months stay in oz are not eligible to apply for extension, they must exit oz and reapply. I have confirmed this info through the DIAC website. To satisfy your doubts, check out DIAC website for you to personally confirm the facts.:D

Cioman,

tried sending you PM but your inbox is full already. anyway, I emailed you what you requested already. God bless you and your sis!!!:D:lol2::yeah:;)

In the case of CON you have to enroll first before they will give you the Letter of Offer which you will need to include in your visa application.

It is better to go for medicals before your visa application so that processing of your visa will be faster. Usually the delay would be on pending medical results or if you discover you have a health issue that require further diagnostics or a period of treatment.

How do we know which medicals to take before applying for the visa?

Doesnt the doctor need to fulfill a form given us by the embassy?:uhoh3:

hi!

i believe that each ahpra state is different in terms of "letting" us know we're being assessed....:uhoh3:

in my case, on aug.19 i received the following email:

"receipt of your application for registration

:

dear ms xxxxx,

ahpra acknowledges receipt of your application for registration.

the application is currently being assessed and you will be notified if any further information is required.

once your application has been assessed and processed you will be advised of the outcome.

please do not respond to this auto-generated email"

no case manager´s name, no reference number.....:crying2: anyway, i'm grateful i´m being assessed and praying for a blessed assessment:yeah:
