Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Student visa for courses of less than ten months are not eligible for apply for extension, only those student visas in which the student is enrolled in a course with duration of 10 months onward are granted to apply for extension.
what is your basis? im asking because if this is true then IDP was lying when i inquired.
can student visa be converted to tourist visa while the student is in Australia? If not, what is the best option to lengthen the stay in Australia if after the BP, there is no available 457 sponsorship yet.Does student visa has a "no further stay" clause?
im not sure, but as far as i know that "no further stay" was more on 456, i doubt with student..
one thing im sure, you can convert any visa to tourist visa, because the essence is you have the "budget" to stay in aussie as a tourist.. so it just boils down to proving that you have the resources to continue staying in aussie as a tourist... tourist visa is the best and only option to stay longer in aussie...
good luck..
IHNA / VCHN in Melbourne:D
Im currently looking to what institution I should go to to do my BP... do you know how much is the tuition fee in VCHN? could there be an institution offering bridging course that is less than $10K AUD? I heared there is but am not sure if there is in NSW??
Anyone knows???
pls i need to hear out you opinion guys and for those who could share pls be feel free.... TY:)
Hi cioman! how are you there in Aus? Were you able to find a job right away? :)
just yesterday i realized... i applied work at the time when most local RNs which were funded by the gov't had graduated.. therefore, there was stiff competition.. imagine my colleague, she finished 1-year conversion program at Flinders Uni thus she has a Australian BSN degree, and she has a 1-year employment hospital experience in the phils.. but she was not able to find hospital job at the time of searching, which was at the same time i was searching job... that's bad luck playing..
imagine, if i did not finished my ICU training and instead started applying earlier, i could have gotten a better job..
so that's why, sometimes you really need to be blessed or lucky...
Hi everyone, am just a newbie here in this site and this would be my fist post...:)situation is, currently I have a decision letter already coming from AHPRA Perth but I want to do my BP in NSW since my relatives are there. Maybe I made you confuse why I made my registration in Perth, it is because I was once advised that there is an institution in Perth offering a cheaper tuition fee for like $360 AUD. If anyone knows can you pls share what other institutions offering a lesser cost for this BP... specially those that are near in NSW?? :)
i think most BPs now cost $10,000 to $14,000 (correct me guys if im wrong)... in nsw, CON is the only BP school (in sydney)... nearest to nsw, would be melbourne, heaps of bp schools...

College of Nursing is CON, no other BP school in NSW... both cities are 8-10 hours drive apart... dont forget to use the google map and wikipedia for further info.. you just made my day! peace....

im very sure that, once you must have that "acceptance letter" or "offer of place" then you can apply for 456 visa or student visa... you cannot apply otherwise without said document/s..
just like you, im also curious if we can apply 456 visa / student visa, even months before the 1st day of BP class.. As you know, most forumers obtain their visa just a few weeks before BP class... im thinking that if we can obtain the said visa even months before BP class then it woud be great.....
my opinion, we can apply and be granted 456 visa/student visa months before the BP class....
nonetheless, you can easily call the aus. embassy and inquire that basic question... if you do, share your answer please..
cheers!

i dont know if this is the way it goes nowadays but when i submitted my application last march, AHPRA required the IELTS to be submitted directly by IDP and my TOR to be submitted directly by the nursing schools that i attended.
