New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Made mine as well:uhoh3::eek:

Does everyone realise Australia is as big as your favourite country of all time The Us of A.

Perth is one side, Sydney other side and Melbourne down the bottom a cross a bit west on the east side approx 1200k from Sydney.

are there any instances in which a student failed the medical exam that the aus embassy requires?

just asking because what if the student already enrolled himself in a BP school but then failed the medical exam.

how long does it gonna take from application to possession of the business/student visa?

thanks

thanks.

when is the best time to apply for a student or business visa assuming that i already got an acceptance letter from the school of my choice which would have an intake in january 2012.

which comes first, visa application or school enrollment?

In the case of CON you have to enroll first before they will give you the Letter of Offer which you will need to include in your visa application.

It is better to go for medicals before your visa application so that processing of your visa will be faster. Usually the delay would be on pending medical results or if you discover you have a health issue that require further diagnostics or a period of treatment.

That is why its better to have the medicals earlier... its valid for 1 year. Normally, when you go for medicals you would be advised if you have a health issue or not. If you have, they would usually advise you to go for further diagnostic or see a specialist. For women, any blood trace in your urinalysis will not be accepted, they would ask you to repeat U/A after a week.

Processing times are in the DIAC website, last time when I applied for 456 it took me 5 days processing (I had medicals 3 weeks before I applied for the visa and I submitted a complete application). Student Visas take longer, higher visa fees).

im very sure that, once you must have that "acceptance letter" or "offer of place" then you can apply for 456 visa or student visa... you cannot apply otherwise without said document/s..

just like you, im also curious if we can apply 456 visa / student visa, even months before the 1st day of BP class.. As you know, most forumers obtain their visa just a few weeks before BP class... im thinking that if we can obtain the said visa even months before BP class then it woud be great.....

my opinion, we can apply and be granted 456 visa/student visa months before the BP class....

nonetheless, you can easily call the aus. embassy and inquire that basic question... if you do, share your answer please..

cheers!

It would be better to apply for a 456 months before the first day of BP in the sense that you won't be stressed out or in a hurry to have your visa in time for your class (like what's happening to me now :D). However, I think most of us aim for a multiple 456 because we want to be sure we have enough time to look for employers and we can legally enter Australia several times until we are successful in finding a sponsor. Applying for a visa months earlier would mean shorter time to look for employers after the BP because I think the embassy indicates the start of the validity date of the visa on the day they decide to grant us that visa. Kindly correct me if I'm wrong here as I'm also uncertain of this. In the case of my husband and son, they were granted a multiple 676. Of course they won't be undergoing BP but I just want to cite their visa as example. They applied for the visa on July 27. We indicated that their intended date of travel would be on October 15, 2011. We received their visas last August 11. Validity of their visas is from August 10, 2011 until August 10, 2012. Now they can travel in and out of Australia multiple times within that period. Again correct me if I'm wrong please but assuming this will be the same or at least similar to a multiple 456 then applying for a 456 months before the BP will only be worth it if we can go to Australia and look for employers before our BP starts. But most forumers who are already in AU advise us that only a few employers would entertain our applications without AHPRA registration or at least proof that the applicant is currently undergoing BP. Hmmm... maybe a couple of months before the BP would be best?

Then again if we can maximize the 90 days stay and apply for a 676, then that would be a better scenario. But I think 456 almost always has a no futher stay condition.

But hey, what am I saying? I'm supposed to be thinking positive and praying that our first 90 days would be enough for BP and finding sponsorship, right?!

i dont know if this is the way it goes nowadays but when i submitted my application last march, AHPRA required the IELTS to be submitted directly by IDP and my TOR to be submitted directly by the nursing schools that i attended.

Oh so the processing is just like NZ that you need to send 3 separate docs? Because I included the school docs in my application, however i requested my certificate of good standing to be sent directly to AHPRA by PRC. And now they are already assessing my papers and just asked for a certified copy of course outline as an additional document. lol

Hi Mhai,

I cannot PM you because your inbox is full. I took your advice and ETEA has approved our request. I'm asking for another Letter of Offer stating the correct amount so I can sign it before remitting the payment. Are you taking their offer?

To everyone who has gone to ETEA for the BP, can you refer me to a cheap accommodation please?....

You can apply online to all bp schools. What I did was download the application forms. Fill them up. Scan the forms together with supporting documents. Email all the docs back to the email address of the school. I just made a cover letter informing them of my intention to apply for their IRON Program. I enumerated the attachments also. All of the schools responded positively (I mean, they accepted my application). Getting a slot is another story though. :D:lol2::idea::uhoh3:
