Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
Congratulations! Where did you take your BP? Is it possible one to apply for work even though the BP course is not yet finished and the person is not yet registered?
yes, nobody can stop you from sending job applications prior your BP completion... but dont expect much to be called for interview though..
Hi guys! I just want to ask if anyone here who already got their eligibility had difficulty contacting their registration officer during processing? I tried to call mine several times but I only reach her answering machine. She does not respond to my recent emails as well. Is this normal or must this be a cause for alarm? It's been almost 6 months now since I lodged my application : (
stay positive and keep on PRAYING.. goodluck. :) PRAY ALWAYS!
I was given multiple entry without any conditions like no further stay. I was able to get an employer before the 90 days, but I decided to come home to Manila while the employer fixed my documents needed for the sponsorship. I think it would be useless to stay there since I'm not allowed to work on my 456 and will spend a lot more if I decided to stay there.
Wow You're so blessed...Where did you take your BP and what state did you apply for work? Is the opportunity now there in your place still many for foreign nurses to get sponsorship? TIA

Thanks. I think with the right experience, there are still hospitals who really sponsor foreign nurses. Try applying everywhere. I applied for every position I could find. It takes a lot of time really, I also received hundreds of rejection letters, but you just have to be patient and wait for the right job offer to come.
just sharing.. i'm not sure if i'm allowed to post this.

Hi there. We're not exactly on the same boat but let me share with you my experience. My BP will start on September 26. Before I submitted an application for my visa I called up the coordinator from CON and asked her what visa should I apply for. She said most students present either a 456 (short business stay) or a 676 (tourist visa). I have heard that 456 is processed faster but I opted to apply for a 676 because my husband also wanted to go to Sydney prolly on our son's sembreak or on Christmas break. So we lodged our application last July 27. We were told that it would take at least 7-10 business days. Then on the 10th business day I received a call from the embassy instructing me to change my application from a 676 to a 456 visa! Plus I had to undergo the Medical exam
. I was informed that results usually take 1-2 weeks. Of course I had no choice but to comply so the next day (August 11) I submitted a new app form and went to Nationwide Health Systems. It's funny because my husband and son got their 676 visa (they were granted 676 multiple entry :)) that same day. Now I'm worried I might not have my visa in time for the start of the BP in CON. The coordinator gave me a deadline to submit a scanned copy of my visa-- September 9. However the lady from the embassy assured me that she will be the one to follow up with the clinic and that my application will be prioritized because they are aware of the date of CON's intake. I dunno, maybe because I almost cried when she called me and she heard the anxiety in my voice haha! So now I'm still waiting...

Anyway I suggest you call the embassy and ask if you still need Medicals. Because if they say you still do then I'm not so sure if they can still give you a visa in time for your BP provider's intake (1st week of September, right?). Prolly you can also tell them that someone from the school advised you the 456 so they know it's not your fault. I just hope they'll allow you to forgo a Medical exam. According to their website processing time for a 456 is shorter than 676; it's the Medical exam that will take time. Good luck and God bless on your application!
So for others who have yet to lodge a visa application, I suggest you call and ask your school AND also call the embassy to inquire what visa will be suitable in your case. Schools may suggest what visa we can apply for but at the end of the day, it's still the embassy who will decide what visa to grant.
Thank you. Yeah, I already did the medical exam before I lodged my visa application. I think it is really a requirement if you are to enter a nursing course or a medical facility. :)

for those who took their BP in CON. Does the school offer an accommodation? Or perhaps some of you know a nice place near CON that is affordable? :tinkbll:
