New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

I now have the money and experience .... but the problem is... I got 6.0 in writing... I do not know what to do now... I feel like giving up my dream.... Help!

just try and retake IELTS again, no choice :( i'm striving to get all 7 too!

waaa thank you sooo much arreyn!! :D finally, I have something to clear my mind. but will UQ consider my experience knowing it's only good for 5months?

i guess i have option number 2 since I got involved with my agency already, but it'll take a lot of money! *crossed fingers and toes* HAHAHAHA

If I were in your shoes, I'd take option 3. BP will take only 3 months to complete. After completion, submit the necessary papers to AHPRA (course completion, proof of ID) and wait for the registration. As long as your papers are complete, you can get your registration in as little as 1-2 weeks. But that's just me...Good luck mate! Cheers!

awwwww... I really would want to do the same, i hope it's not a little too late.I have paid the assessment fee from my agency around 300 AUD,but they said they will be lodging my papers in december depending on what school, and they are licensed to endorse me with 2 schools which is TAFE SA and HOLMESGLEN in melbourne. Either of the two, I have no choice but to enroll as EN (since i have no 2 years experience). I really would want to take BP but i really don't know where to start. :crying2:

There is nothing that your agency have told you that you could not find in these threads. Most of the people who posts here do so to try and help people achieve their OZ dream.

I assume you are an RN in the Philippines and you want to come Down Under. Your agency advised you to enroll in an EN course - 18 months...why? They are only concerned about the ridiculous amounts of money you have been throwing at them. I suggest you cut your losses. You will not get a Permanent Residency with this route.

There are bridging programs that last 3months, 6 months or 1 year depending on where you enroll, and you do become an RN after the program.

"Study 2 years diploma in nursing then 1 year for RN" - why? With the amount of money you will be spending with this route, you are better off opening your own small hospital there in the Philippines - no joke.

If you are doing nurse volunteer work, keep doing it. When you are ready, take the IELTS, pass the exam then apply at AHPRA, do the bridging program and become an OZ RN...After that you will need to find an employer willing to sponsor you for a work visa and then you can apply for Permanent Residency.

By the way.. anybody knows how true that AHPRA could forego of IELTS requirements if an applicant shows proof that previous secondary and tertiary studyies had been undertaken in English (except Filipino subjects of course)?

NOT TRUE ... you have to take the IELTS

wow! that sure is an eye opener  sheesh! yes i am from the philippines.. sadly i have paid the assessment fee already, I actually have a friend who's on the same boat, He's writing a letter to AHPRA if he could enroll for BP and then he'll stop studying for EN. i really don't know what to do as of this time, but i know, what is 300 AUD compared to 25000AUD tuition right..

thank you sooooo much guys, I have been reading your posts since March of this year and i find it very useful, really.

Indeed, what is 300AUD compared to heaps you are going to spend with an agency. 25000AUD is a heart attack! and I thought 11000 to 12000 tuition fee for RN 1 is already expensive.

There is someone I know who applied for OZ who is supposed to go to OZ last year. But until now, that person is still in the Philippines. That person took the agency route as well. So, "If you want something done, do it yourself".If you want a safer, faster, economical route, take the BP mate. Cheers!

hi guys! how's everybody here?

For those who had their IRON and placed a job, I would like to ask if you can suggest me hospitals, nursing homes or agencies that provide sponsorship for nurses here in Australia?

Thanks!

hello

also got my eligibility letter. now searching for a school for the BP. i only have relatives in sydney so that leaves me with no other option other than CON burwood. CON's BP fee is 10k AUD. i dunno if I can come up with that amount soon. does anybody know a school which offers scholarship grants to overseas qualified nurses? or schools that has a cheaper enrollment fee? it's a huge amount to invest in.

hoping to hear from anybody soon! :))

god bless
