New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi Sheer!

May I ask for the tuition fee at ETEA?

Thanks a lot.

hi! its 11,900 australian dollars

Hi oceanspray! I think I knew whos that friend of yours! jejejeje!!!

hello invanz! glad to see you posting here ;)

Has anybody here tried calling the AHPRA office in QLD? Does the number +61 3 8708 9001 work for all states? I checked the website and this is the only number that came up for those calling from overseas. I'm thinking of giving them a ring as it has been more than 2 weeks since I emailed them and I still haven't got any reply. Hmmm... I wonder how much it would cost... Anyone?

@kokology

i am not yet allowed to reply via pm since i don't have the required number of posts here. re the visa, i had my medical before i had my docu picked up by the via center. im not yet finished w/ my vaccines and that is a big prob.for me. pm me your email so that i can rply to you. good luck!

hi i am new here. please help me, i am confused. will i undergo this BP even though i have 3 years work exp as RN staff nurse? thanks.

Yes, and unless you have been working in an english speaking country for at least 3 months english test as well.

hi! Im a newbie here so i just want to ask some few questions...my ielts will expire this july 2011, but i had already lodged an appllication with AHPRA and im just waiting for their decision.from my understanding on reading this forum, given that i shall be approve by AHPRA and finish my BP i still need to resit my IELTS for my 457 VISA Application to DIAC...my question is, have someone here taken their IELTS in Australia? is it possible to take the IELTS while doing your BP? we are given a 12-week VISA for our BP, is the timeline feasible where i would no longer go back to the Phils while waiting for the IELTS result?

so your ielts will expire this july and your're still waiting for ahpra decision.. how long have you been waiting for ahpra decision? pray hard that your application will be decided before your ielts expires. and given that ahpra granted u an eligibility letter, you will still need to have a valid ielts before getting accepted into one of the educational institutions offering bridging program, as well as before applying for ahpra registration after completing the BP and yes, when you are getting to be sponsored for a 457. some were granted a 1 year multiple entry 456 for the BP, but you really have to go back home after 3 months unless you find a sponsor right away, before the 3 months is over, then they can apply you for a bridging visa while waiting for your 457 working visa. so i suggest you resit your ielts soon so that you wont encounter problems about that may cause some delay

hi everyone, although my intial plan is to register here in the uk as a nurse, my experience has not reach their requirement so i m going back home in the philippines to get more experience. Reading this thread had gave me an option to try australia too, but im having a hard time making my cv in terms of how to write down the skills and procedures that were suppose to write down in it. can any one please help me out in walking through cv creation. thanks :)

hi,

good day everyone. i have just joined allnurses today because i want to ask help from things i dont understand regarding the registration process. :(

i already applied to ahpra and it has been 7months now. i only a letter from them d other week stating i am eligible for registration. i was happy after that and i comply all the needed dox they asked from me right on the same day. (i am currently in aus)

they told me, my papers r already complete and i have to wait for the decision of the board. 2 weeks after i still didnt get any update from them so i called them. they told me i am an international registrant so they (ahpra) needed to refer my application to ANMC. the ANMC had a meeting last friday, june 17, and ahpra advised me to wait for the outcome of the meeting. and that they will contact me soon after.

my question is, has anyone here had d same experience with mine? i would like to know what is expected from it? what happens after that? i am actually worried with the fact that my applic is referred to ANMC.

i have a 1 yr experience back home in OR. do i need to take BP? can someone tell me idea of how much is the cost and for how long is it?

THANK you so much and i hope to hear from anyone soon to help my situation.

God bless.

First of all, no one has ever been told they are eligible for registration without all their papers being already with AHPRA so they can make an informed decision...how did they make a decision to register you without all papers? Even locals will not be considered for registration until all documents are signed and dotted ....so this is even different to the usual process. Then to say you are eligible for registration ......but its before the board is bizarre!!

If it has taken 7 months....and then board decision...according to AHPRA site this is to occur when a registration officer cannot make a recommendation and then it goes to the board for formal decision....do not know why ANMAC would be involved as they are used only for immigration purposes if you are applying as skilled worker for that visa, Are you applying through DIAC as well?

Have you submitted english requirements or are you trying the secondary school and university in english route....and check out your nursing school are they well known and acceptable as of Australian university standards

Other than that......hope.....looks like your application may be a test case....for whatever reasons...
