New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

The attached documents which state the exemptions from IELTS should be from the following countries listed where secondary education was undertaken was only a draft of the recommendation which was not yet approved by the board. So while the later is the one that is being followed see my previous post

Hi Guys,

I've talked to a consultant who is more knowledgeable regarding this BP thing, I've asked him how about the IELTS and he told me that IELTS is no longer a requirement all I have to do is to pass a documents that came from my school in college and high school that will prove I am fluent in english. Is that true?

Hope to hear from you guys. Thank you.

you just said it, "a consultant who is more knowledgeable regarding this BP thing..." ...then, what's the point of asking us if the consultant is more knowledgeable, ....go for it, deal with said consultant...

face reality guys, ...i was excited in taking my NLE and NCLEX... but i was really on my toes and stressed when i was taking my IELTS (3x)... IELTS is part of reality in going abroad, accept it as i frighteningly accepted it too.. if you want to migrate in Oz or wherever, still you need IELTS (and me, i have to re-take it as my ielts expires, a reality for me)..

so stop daydreaming!

Hey Guys! Just want to share that I've finally received a response from AHPRA. I sent my documents this February and up until today I haven't gotten any response. Not even a confirmation that theyve received my documents. It's 4 months of waiting till I finally got an e-mail from them. I need to send outstanding academic documents which I'm sure sent on last February too. Anyway, I'll just send the documents again. Good luck to all of us :-)

Hi cioman. I understand your frustration about people insisting that there is a way out of the ielts requirement. As you said, you took it 3X and need to take it again. I myself have to retake it soon because mine is about to expire. The ielts test is really tough. It's not like nursing subjects that you can memorize facts and somewhat be able to connect the dots. The ielts exam really tests all your faculties of understanding the english language (both listening different accents, and reading and understanding different english words and idioms). Not only understanding, but also being able to express yourself fluently and cohesively in written (watch out your spelling and your grammar!!) and oral English. To top it off, you are only given a certain amount of time to finish each portion of the test.

While it may be true that some have been able to register as RN without the necessary ielts test score of 7 in all bands, I believe it's more of an exception than the rule. For me, I would really try my best to get the necessary minimum score in ielts than try another route because as you said, ielts is really necessary when you go abroad whether it be in Australia or in other first world countries.

So, in the end, I won't get into an argument with someone who thinks otherwise.... "To each his own." ;);)

Good day! I have a realtive in NSW, and i'm wondering if it is possible that they'd be allowed to pass my application directly to AHPRA Office. Lastly, do you have an idea where i could get the list of school/universities in NSW offering Iron Program? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, 7 months. I'm still waiting for my eligibility letter from AHPRA, apparently they had problems with their Oz partner, which caused so much trouble for some nurses who signed up with them. My contract with them is actually void now, as my contract was between me and their Oz partner, oh well, long story. Hmm, they have showed me pics of successful applicants, I don't know them personally though.

oh no...they had problems with their OZ partner? o.0

have they already fixed the problem...? before u terminated ur contract with them, did u already paid them the fees? is it non-refundable? so bad...what if my parents' hard-earned money would just go to waste...:crying2:

that agency, i knew of its existence even when i was not yet a OZ Rn.. they both have good stories and bad stories.. it boils down on where you will be classified after dealing with them, the good or the bad story..
