New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

hi! im also on the same boat with you. :crying2: sent my application on the last week of august 2010..and i havent received any confirmation emails from them.. I just knew they received my application because I received the receipt on Oct 2010. Since, then I started emailing them and they would just reply It has been escalated to a registraion specialist/officer. Until now, Im still emailing them, and the last reply I got was last week telling me that my email has been sent urgently and I will receive a response as soon as possible.

feels a bit frustrated..but **fingers crossed*** still holding on.. aja! :nurse::clown:

O yes, I feel the same and I'm sure there are more out there like us. I have an agency to assist me with the process and there are some who have been waiting longer than us, especially those who had problems with the transition to AHPRA. But I guess this is beyond our control and we just have to keep on praying and hoping.

how are you going mate... totally agree with what you have said above, really true... except just for one small

personal thing, just my thing, that is: it is safer for me to park my car in my home city of Davao than here..

just bought a car yesterday, then this morning, driver's window was smashed.. and these things normally happen often here (as it happens to others here), but not in my home city.. anyone can argue against my point, but that's just it..

ouch, too bad for a day old car.. that sounds scary..

i have a question, if i took the board exams in cebu, and of course, registered there as well, is it possible to request the PRC of Iloilo to have my cert of good standing sent to AHPRA? or do I have to go to Cebu again?

Yeah you guys should keep holding on and be positive. Sometimes it comes when you least expect it. Even in my case who knows after 9 months of waiting then the eligibility comes. You can see from my 'joined dated' in this forum, that is the time when I also sent my application and got my eligibility January 2011 already. My emails haven't been relplied as well that is why I had a backup plan already...that was the Skilled Migration and getting enrolled in Murdoch for the 1 year Conversion....then when I least expected it, came my NSW eligibility for 2 months! So don't give up guys :). Instead of waiting anxiously just try to keep yourselves busy by building up your experience/exposure in nursing...and really keep your prayers and faith high :) Goodluck!

Specializes in ICU.

I have a question, after getting the approval from AHPRA, is there a time period required for you to start and do the bridging program? Or can we just start it anytime we want?

appreciate the reply.

I'm confused.

1. My agency said that as of a few days ago, there were new requirements. I had to submit a course description and syllabus. Is this really required? I thought they only required the TOR and RLE. I haven't submitted my application yet.

2. I have 1 year and 4 months paid experience in a hospital but they won't give out employment certificates or sign the CV thing since I didn't reach 2 years (which is the minimum). I didn't list this under work experience. I just placed it under the GAPS. Is this right? That's what the agency told me to do.

Thanks!

The validity of the AHPRA referral letter/eligibility is 1 year from date issued. If it expires you will need to redo everything and get re-assessed again.

I haven't heard of the 'new requirements' if you say its just a few days ago...although I honestly do not know anymore any new policy/requirement of AHPRA, but if there are new requirements I'm sure it would be mentioned here by our fellow forumers who are still applying... Someone did mention the course description/syllabus as part of the framework of assessment for nurses, so maybe your agency just want to make sure that all the essentials are there so you can have a proper assessment.

Its odd that they won't give you a certificate of employment...you said 2 years is the minimum? Is that their policy before they can give you a certificate? Considering it was 'paid experience' its really a waste if you don't get to ask for a work certificate... why don't you just make an appeal to them? If volunteer work for 3 months are even given a certificate what more for a 1 year plus paid experience... just try your best to rationalise with them :) I'm not sure if I get it right but I think for ANMAC (skilled migration) you can also show your Income Tax Returns or Payslips as proof of paid experience. I also worked in HR for 11 years and we usually would give our employees an 'appointment letter and job description/function' before they start work, so maybe if you have one you can also use that.

Its also right if you really read and do your own research rather than depend only on what your agency tells you. If you have time I highly encourage you to read this entire thread (and if you also have time part I :D), I really guarantee you there are lots and lots of ideas and information you can get because people sharing their experiences here are those who have really undergone the process. Goodluck to you! :)

I have no idea about this, sorry... but I believe that most of our national departments in the government are already into the 'online thing' (forgive me if I dunno the technical term LoL), I mean National Statistics Office does online requests/applications, DFA also has a passport appointment system online, I heard PRC also have online options for OFWs...I think...just think your query is possible, best is to call them up to ask :)

thank you for this miks. i will try to search online. I tried calling PRC Cebu and I always get a busy line or no answer :( too bad. Hopefully they cater to online requests! That's the most convenient way!
