New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Congratulations, RVGT.RN! May I ask, do you have more than a year's experience already as a nurse in the Philippines? I am a bit worried with my nursing experience. I have half a year's experience as a nurse in the Philippines but I have plans to send my application to AHPRA this year.

what seems to be the problem, bcoz i dont see any problem or to worry about your experience..

please understand the "context" or the "situation" of AHPRA since july 2010.. it was newly created, expect new policies, and expect inconsistent policies, and later on revised policies.. if you are hit favorably then good on yah, if unfavorable then sorry mate.. nonetheless keep on going..

I just called AHPRA and they said my application is still being reassessed..

What does that mean? Hope they would approve my application.

Do you anybody whose application has been declined?

in my more than 2 years here, so far nobody was (has admitted) declined BUT there were confirmed instances that their application/s was downgraded to being/becoming an Enrolled Nurse..

hi there to all of you? can i have some feedback from you guys? i have trouble in answering these questions

1. Victoria or WA

2. Is it true that WA's BP are much cheaper + cost of living

3. What state currently has good work opportunities and abundant BP slots.

wish you could help me out ...thank you

1) Whoever will accept you and whichever you can afford, then choose it..

2) Yes BP fee cheaper.. cost of living, doesnt differ much unless you live in rural..

3) state with work opportunities? depends on your qualifications not on the state.. BP slots, Victoria of course!

i dont know how your aunt's friend's niece did that, but i tried that before already. and they returned my application saying it was not enough evidence for english language skills because i didnt do my secondary (year 10-12) and nursing program here in australia. so basically, i was forced to take ielts. and gladly i passed though. try asking your aunt what kind of letter did she passed to ahpra and all sorts of information like that. hope i answered your question.

Hi! Guys, I think being eligible to take the bridging and finally registering as an OZ nurse are two different things. will they register you as an OZ nurse without the passing ielts score? after you have done the bridging without ielts? (just curious) There maybe technicalities here.:cool:

Hi. You can only take the bridging course after you get the endorsement letter from ahpra to do so. And you can only get that letter if you apply for registration with ahpra. One of the prerequisites is the ielts.:coollook:

After the bridging course, your bp provider will endorse your credentials to ahpra that you have passed the program and now eligible to be registered as an Division 1 nurse.

first of all, i don't think you can take a bridging program without the IELTS with 7 in all bands. That is one of their initial requirements. As well as AHPRA's requirements to be able to register as a nurse in Australia.

I see...hmmm.well at least there's still an option..

I've been praying for this and I hope everything will turn out positive. :)

Will update soon and hope I can help some fellow RNs here too once approved! :)

Thanks cioman!

I dont have any experience at all. Hehehe. Im a newly graduate last april 2010 and passed the july 2010 nle. but it doesnt matter as long as you didnt graduate more than 12 months ago. that's what i think, cause there are unis that accept students without experience. one of them is the mercy health institute. and by the way.. im doing the october bp in mercy health because according to them their slots are already filled when i called.. and rncoco also told me that their last enrolment was last friday. :( anyway the important thing is i can do the bp and im not in a hurry anyway. right guys? :)

hi guys! do you know someone who's heading to bendigo in may?

i might go for bendigo. but im not yet sure cause it's so far from my home and it will take me 3 hours to get there. and i dont like that. hahaha.

RVGT. RN.. Thanks a lot. better be sure though, I will take my IELTS and keep the ball rolling.. Hopefully everything will go through smoothly.

yes of course. it is better to be sure than to regret anything in the end. :) cheers mate!

uhmm.. i just think that.. they will not allow you to take the bridging course if you havent passed any requirements at all to them.. especially ielts. i am sorry guys to mention this.. i think that australia is one of the easiest country for a nurse to apply as an rn because of ielts as the only test we will take to be eligible to apply, aside from the exams we will do in the bp course. :) anyway i believe that we can all do it! cheers mate :D
