New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

hi guys, i hope you won't mind me asking (someone answered this a few pages back already), i tried to back read (although 217 pages meant a whole lot of backreading!) but couldn't find the answers anymore. i hope you could enlighten me.

these are questions based on the agos-04 form

1. #11 what are the details of your qualifications and examinations/assessments?

title of qualification

name of institution

country

completion date

length of program

a. bsn, name of uni, philippines, date of graduation, 4 years (or 3 years for 2nd courser)

b. nle, uni, ph, date of nle, 2 days board examination

c. i'm not sure if i included my ielts here... forgot already

d. can include nclex or cgfns if you have

2. #12 what is your health practitioner registration history?

state/territory/country

category of registration

profession

period of registration

your city, philippines

registered nurse

nurse

period stated in your prc id

3. #16 have you completed:

*secondary education taught and assessed in english to the requisite level for entry into a nursing or midwifery program

*a nursing or midwifery program taught and assessed in english

i answered no here and had ielts as my evidence. secondary is high school right? back then (since i'm middle-age) we had 'araling panlipunan, pilipino, spanish subjects' to name a few... and although english was the primary medium of instruction but it cannot be helped that this is not recognised as so internationally, because universally english is not the main language of the philippines that is why applicants from the philippines are still required to take the ielts. besides it is also a fact that our teachers would use the local dialects as well to explain further lessons being taught..its inevitable...

if yes (must attach evidence)

if no (arrange for evidence of successful completion of a board approved english language test to be provided directly to the board by the testing authority

(note: for me, my answer would be yes because all lessons were taught in english, but i don't know what evidence to show them, for no though, i know it would be the ielts exam results.. but i feel i should answer yes as the honest question.. but please do help. finished high school and college here in the philippines)

hmmm, i know i have more questions.. will add on my next post hehe =) thanks in advance..

that was how i answered before and well...my application didn't have problems. goodluck!

hi everyone, im just new here and im confused about the application for BP. I want to know how to pass the TOR. Will the school be in charge of passing it to ahpra or can i just pass it along with my application form? thanks.:)

Yes it is your University/School who will mail the TOR to AHPRA...you will have to request that from them explaining that is the requirement for Australia or that is how AHPRA wants it to be and you have to pay them the courier fee or service fee. Same goes for your IELTS and PRC Certificate of Good Standing/Verification of License. These 3 Documents must be noted as NOT sent by you directly.

additional questions:

4. agent authorization

i consent to this application being discussed with

third party

not applicable (i suppose this is the answer? just making sure)

if you have an agent (like an agency or a relative in australia who you would prefer to send and receive communications on your behalf) then yes, otherwise its a no.

5. also, i could not find anywhere saying the tor should come from the school?

there is....(#11)

'you must attach a certified copy of all your academic

qualification(s) e.g. academic transcript mentioned within this

form. where educational institutions verify academic results at

completion of your course directly to ahpra, attachments are

not required.'

its not however so clear which among the 2 options (attaching certified copy or having to send directly), but because prior to the july 2010 unification of boards this has been the practice of all states then its just safer and preferred to have your school send it directly. your choice.

i have a tor but it says in the bottom, for board exam purposes? would that do? requesting another tor from my school would mean another expense, and it takes 1 week to request a tor.

since you are making your application to ahpra, try your best to have the most appropriate documents attached (if possible). i requested a separate transcript with no specific purpose so that it can be re-used in all other purposes. besides, i noticed that the tor used for my board exam just indicated my nursing curriculum, they didn't include my degree in accounting and my masters degree (since i'm a 2nd courser)... if you want ahpra to assess you in a more appealing way try your best to include all other credentials. i even attached work statements that were not nursing related and degrees that were not nursing related because it is a common knowledge that the number of years in our educational system in the philippines is not the same with australia. its still your choice also, if you want to save or you are in a rush then just include it as is.

can someone help me to see where it says the tor should come from the school and not together with my other documents?

thank you guys so much!

actually what i did is i still attached certified true copies of my tor, prc and ielts but i wrote a note in the checklist beside the item that the original was sent directly by example the university, prc, idp.

hope this helps. goodluck :)

another question, lol, i am full of questions already, i can't even keep track anymore. anyway, i'm feeling productive now, hence all these questions!

anyway, what is the statutory declaration for? I couldn't find that as a requirement from the AGOS form. am I missing something here?

In the old form (individual state applications) it was a part... well as far as I remember for NSW yea it was. The new AGOS-04 form doesn't have it already. It's like a sworn statement...like that.. under oath....

hi there to all of you? can i have some feedback from you guys? i have trouble in answering these questions

1. Victoria or WA

2. Is it true that WA's BP are much cheaper + cost of living

3. What state currently has good work opportunities and abundant BP slots.

wish you could help me out ...thank you

That's what I've noticed. Now am having some regrets on having an agent.

I'll try calling AHPRA directly instead.

Thanks miks!

Hi Good Day!

been reading this forum for quiet awhile but just registered recently. I had a little chitchat with my aunt on internet and she is in OZ now, She just received her eligibility from AHPRA to take bridging course there in OZ. I was confused when she said that AHPRA didn't require IELTS as one of her requirements, I was thinking because she was an OZ PR, but it makes m more confused when she said that her friend's niece who is here in Philippines did not submit IELTS but just submitted a letter from her school (secondary and tertiary) indicating that everything was taught in English. I think i'll just send an e-mail to AHPRA asking them about this and any insights will be much appreciated...

i dont know how your aunt's friend's niece did that, but i tried that before already. and they returned my application saying it was not enough evidence for english language skills because i didnt do my secondary (year 10-12) and nursing program here in australia. so basically, i was forced to take ielts. and gladly i passed though. try asking your aunt what kind of letter did she passed to ahpra and all sorts of information like that. hope i answered your question.

Congratulations, RVGT.RN! May I ask, do you have more than a year's experience already as a nurse in the Philippines? I am a bit worried with my nursing experience. I have half a year's experience as a nurse in the Philippines but I have plans to send my application to AHPRA this year.

hi guys! do you know someone who's heading to bendigo in may?
