Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to ask if anyone on the forum took their bridging program at the College of Nursing in Burwood, NSW. I'd like to ask for feedback regarding your class and experience there.
Do they fail students? Is it hard to pass the course?
What would you advise I study prior to the course to avoid failing it?
Thank you guys!
Any advice would help a lot.

nobody had finished his BP in CON, ever since i become a member here in this thread.. if there is one, they are busy working and are not members of this thread.. you guyz/galz will be the first batch in CON in this thread..
if im told that i am eligible for a bridging/assessment program for enrolment but not a bridging program for registration. what does that mean???
prior to receiving that letter, did they ask you for anything or additional docus, or clarifications?
"for enrolment" means for EEN (enrolled nurses medicine endorsed).. that's not for RN..
please clarify your letter with them.. hopefully they just got it wrong..
how will we know if aphra already received our application?i am tracking my express mail and see that my application is already delivered to KA STEFAN.
im getting worried who this KA STEFAN is. my application might be delivered to the wrong place
chillax.. just wait for the email as what they said/posted.. you should be concern if it was received by KA SATUR..
Hi! question here regarding AHPRA application: should I apply to the state where my possible BP schools are located? If for example I apply to AHPRA West Aus am I not allowed to take BP in a school in VIC or is it ok to apply at any state?
piece of advice.... dont leave the thread, keep on reading this thread... you're question was discussed already a few weeks ago and few months ago..
There has been much discussion (Australia) here about where nurses should be educated. The nurses board of victoria gave permission to a tafe college to commence a Bachelor of Nursing. Since then there has been much union opposition plus much academic discussion that never should a Nursing degree again be given permission from a education institute any lower than deemed a university.
Thus I would imagine AHPRA, are bound to uphold this this policy strongly (Otherwise Australia will have private tafes jumping up everywhere wanting to conduct a Bachlor of Nursing) and this goes for all overseas nursing, your degree must have been given by a university or education institute that is of same quality. Enrolled nurses are educated in tafes and some universities.
Anyone can pass an exam by parrot fashion, by practising etc etc. this does not show that you really know the theories behind it or could impliment the theories behind it nor be able to actually observe this in a patient so just passing a national exam is not going to deem a nurse of education standard to that of an Australian unless from a same standard university. Australia does not have a national exam so where you are educated is important.
Hello I have a few questions I hope somebody will answer me. I am clueless about steps on how to study in Australia. I haven't spoke to my auntie abroad yet.
my questions are:
1. Is BP for the experienced nurse only?
2. Can I work while studying if I chose a 6-month vocational course? (if not what preferred duration of study)
3. What course should I enroll to if I want to be a registered nurse in OZ
I do not have work experience yet. I took my board exam last July2010. I went to IDP yesterday and gave me a booklet. I know that I could ask my counselor about those things but I wanted to hear advices from my fellow Rns. Thank you for those who will answer me.
