Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Hi Guys, I would like to ask whether every institution that conducts Bridging Program either universities or colleges always give trial exam for new applicants before enrolling the course or it depends on its (universities/colleges) policy??
Because based on the information that I've searched on the internet, there's an institution that held a trial exam for new applicants such as The Royal Australian College of General Practitioner.
The second one is, for those who are going to enroll the Bridging course, how you arrange for the place to stay (ex:dormitory or home stay programs), do you use an agent or you arrange it by your self (by asking the universities/colleges whether they provide dormitory for new students)?
Are there some of you who have the information regarding my question?
Thank you so much in advance for your help
May I add two more questions...
Does any of you have some reccomendations or suggestions about which universities/colleges in any state that conduct BP with less tuition fee (less than $AUD 8000) but still has good quality and the length of the course is less than 1 year??
Does any of you have some information regarding which state in Australia that doesn't require high living cost???
Because I want to make a calculation or some estimation about how much money will I spend for the BP and the living cost before I get there...
Thank you so much for your help...
I appreciate that...
Finally decided to take the bp in Burwood, NSW not in April but July intake. Sending my application form tomorrow:) My hopes at Qld's proposed bp has faded, after receiving an email stating "There are not currently any bridging courses available in Queensland. It is up to the educational institutions to decide what courses they offer. AHPRA is responsible for approving those courses that meet the standards set for registration purposes" So I chose a diffrent route instead, before my eligibility letter expires. Time is precious. Good luck to me:)
hello kye09! why july and not april? the more the merrier! :dancgrp:
hey guys!
I'm glad to know that a lot of people are going to take the bridging course at CON this April, at least we won't be so lonely on the first day.
I just posted payment today but I still have to send my documents via post. I plan to this tomorrow as well as do the medical exam as well. Has anyone received the document from CON which we need to include in our visa application?
My friend who is currently taking her course in ETEA said she did not even include any show money for the 456 application - she said that the letter from the institution sufficed already.
I am really excited at the same time very very much afraid - let's all hope that everything will be worth it in the end and we find an employer who will sponsor a 457 for us all.
God Bless Everyone! 2 months to go for CON April Intake Nurses
For that question you have to refer to the DIAC website. It depends on what type of visa you are going to apply. If its a student visa it will entail more proof of financial resources (details are there), if its 456 and 676 it should be able to cover your purpose in going there (business or tourism) + cost of living expenses, etc. As for how long, is also indicated in the DIAC website, I think 6 months... just recheck please :)
