New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Thanks for the help! I heard on tv once that to get someone to get your paperwork from prc you would need a power of attorney:madface: you know how bureaucracy here is. ill email PRC and wait for the response. I'm curious as to how long they will reply! :)

right? is there anyone applying for queensland? and what schools that are offering BP in queensland? thank you...:nurse:

To those who are applying to bridging schools, did you inform the Nursing and Midwifery board already regarding your acceptance?

Because I called up Mercy Health and they told me to contact the Board to ask if my letter was still valid given that they already have new standards.

I dont know if I still need to have my documents re-assessed. Can they possibly revoke my eligibility given that i have no experience and the new standards do require experience?

Thanks thanks thanks so much. I will. anyway. how long did you wait from the time you applied til you got your letter of offer?

im sorry, i didnt undergo BP.. you may ask other forumers how long it takes them to receive a letter of offer... but actually, it has nothing to do with how fast they process the "letter of offer" because that is really easy and fast... the crucial thing really is WHEN is the next batch of BP where there is still an available slot?? that is the most information you must be able to obtain.. and if you knew that, then the next question is WILL you be accepted in that batch considering the competition nowadays..

i hope you got my point.. just research patiently and ask for help from others who undergone BP.. sorry not me..

good luck...

Thanks cioman.

I am researching on BP's offered somewhere in Sydney or its outskirts since I have a place to stay in Wollongong, which is an hour away.

prior the national registration scheme, there was only one school that was offering BP in Sydney, that is the College of Nursing in Burwood.. presently, i dont know.. you may also check with AHPRA website if they have the list of BP providers..

many of the forumers here who will undergo BP can advise you on such matter.. just ask for their help.. sorry me cant help much on the details of BP..

good luck..

congrats!!!:) can you pls explain what is multiple entry business visa? what are the reqts for a multiple entry visa?how long was the processing?thankss..

shynern07,

if my memory serves me right such visa is 456 visa.. drednag was approved of this visa too... if you are going to apply for visa for BP then 456 visa is for you (wait, i think you are already in Oz, right? anyway)..

456 visa is processed quickly, less than 1 week.. "multiple entry" is when they approved you for such multiple entry, unlike if it is single entry then you could enter only once and go out.. there is a portion on the application where you are asked if you want single or multiple..

1) if the "someone" is not a PRC licensed professional, then: power of attorney, photocopy of your PRC ID.

2) if the "someone" is a PRC licensed professional, then: a signed letter of authority, photocopy of your PRC ID, and "someone" should bring his PRC ID during transactions.

3) since our government is etchus wahhtever ek ek... better have power of attorney even if "someone" is a PRC license professional..

hi doza.if your mail will be sent through a door to door delivery, like lbc, they will not acknowledge gpo box 9958... , instead have it addressed to ahpra level 8, 111 bourke street melbourne vic 3000 that is if you are applying in victoria. you can refer to the address that was posted by liaa in the previous page.:)

i think an authorization and your id will do if you'll send someone to pick up your req'ts. to be sure, you can actually email prc manila..:)

as mentioned above, just a general reminder:

if you will send to a po box address, use the philippine post office, not a private courier..

if you will use a private courier, then send your documents to the office address, not a po box address..

rationale: only post office mails are deposited inside a po box.. this is an agreement among all post offices in the whole universe..

kuri,

i guess you understand that there a "lot of things going on" in AHPRA and Oz nursing nowadays, including your situation right now..

i dont know the SOP, that is, if you already have a BP school, then is it SOP to inform the nursing board.. i hope those who will undergo BP will answer this question for you..

Mercy's instruction to you is an example of the "lot of things goin on", thus, you have no choice but to follow their request to do so.. that is, get confirmation from nursing board of the "effectivity" of your existing eligibility letter..

with regards to your questions in the last paragraph, these issues were discussed in page 623.. me, sweet-toothRN and ceridwyn discussed this issue, read it for your own benefit.. about the "experience", this was also discussed in previous pages, and the conclusion is you can still be given an eligibility even if you have no experience because the BP will be counted as experience leading you to a nursing registration..

good luck..

really dont know the details about 456, but most if not all of the "approved" forumers here got 456 visa, so, i suggest u to pm them all, hehehe, grabe if no one would reply.. actually, the fact that you are an existing visa holder then the quicker would be the processing, on the assumption that you will be approved..

good luck to your applications, hopefully everything would normalize already..
