Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
hi aelith! i just read your postings & learned a lot from them. unfortunately your messages dated back 2008 & i am afraid ur not active anymore with this site. currently, i wana apply for a bridging program for sydney but i am confused & dont know where to start. just in case you know of a college or university in that area offering the bridging program can you please guide me through. my sister who is based in sydney is sponsoring my entry but my problem is where to start applying. thanks a lot in advance to your time & guidance. tc & God Bless..:):):)

Perth takes 1 year, Adelaide 6 mos, Melbourne 2-3.5 mosWhy can't Perth be 6 mos too???
Do you already know that for July all courses leading to registration in all states will all be recognized? LOL... They should start making a unified one like all 3 mos or all 6 mos coz this is really a mess. What would be the standard then?
wow! melbourne conversion program only for 2-3 1/2 months? can you please provide information on this and how to apply for it?are they accepting applicants for july?
The 2-3.5 mos in Melbourne is called bridging. If you qualified for early exit because of your competence then your bridging will only take 2 mos. This is a case by case situation. There are plenty of bridging institutions there so you'll have plenty of options. But you need to have the letter of eligibilty first.
I think the slots for this year are almost out. So I believe curtin would be best for me rather than waiting for next year.
hi aelith! you are such a great help to nurses! your knowhow in australian nurse migration is much more extensive than a migration agent's. in my case, i want to register in sydney so i can live with my sister who is a resident in NSW. any advice how could i start my application? thanks a lot for your time...& may God bless you more in return. tca...:)
Thank you uh_huh? unadunad and lime12. I almost thinking I cannot pass ielts because of speaking because I am nervous.
@narscathy I think you can take english courses if you did not get all 7 in IELTS, but I am not very sure if you can taking conversion same time while studying english course. Why don't you just try take ielts again? sometimes it is luck also if the one who will check your writing and speaking is nice in giving grade but it only is for writing and speaking because in listening and reading the answer is the same for everyone.
NBV give me letter say I need explaning why I have no working experience. I think this is same thing with Newmac before. Now I do not know what to do but I'm happy that they responding to me speedy. No response yet from NMBSW.
Goood luck to every body.

@terdjay I start my application in NMBWA last july 29, 2009 by sending the app form and the required documents. then i went to PRC and FEU (my uni in Philippines) on august 7, 2009 to request for certificate to be send by the PRC and FEU directly to NMBWA. FEU send the certificate after 3 days. PRC send my certificate after 5 days. On september 16, 2009 i received letter from NMBWA telling me that I need to take IELTS. September 26 I took my IELTS. luckily i got 7. i apply for student visa in UK mid of october. on october 26 I requested from IDP to send a copy of my IELTS result directly to NMBWA. November 16 i received a letter from NMBWA telling me that i need to take BP together with the lists of unis and colleges. unluckily slots for BP are really limited in WA as i want to take mine in RPH or HPH. so i decided to take BP this year (2010) or next year (2011). december 16 i received my student visa for UK. January 4, 2010 I went to UK. and now im planning to take BP in VCHN late this year (waiting my letter of offer for october 4 intake) or if the HPH and RPH will resume their BP early next year (i hope so) i will grab it. but if everything will not be ok for my BP i will take conversion in curtin on february 2010. im also waiting for the decision letter from NMC (board of nursing here in UK) for my adaptation here in UK if i will be lucky and accepted by NMC. as of now all my applications are pending. i hope in the end atleast one of them will be successful wish me luck.. Godbless to us.

Thanks and gud luck mate.
All my docu are complete except for the verification so if ever I get my partial acceptance I'll gamble and try to apply with it in curtin. If denied then I'll go to etea as backup plan. Rph and hph are very competitive and they prefer experience there so even with pr I might have narrow chance in there. Since by July license are now valid everywhere, then I'll go back to scgh or rph to apply. Or better yet go back and work in Queensland and be independent instead. WA sucks. I miss Queensland. Lucky are the Filipino nurses already working there.
yeah thats good we need to have back up plan because we can never tell what will happen the next day.. what we have today may not be available tomorrow. we have to grab all opportunities that will come across in our way. aim for the best or do little by little and wait for the best.. things are not happening to us, things are happening because of us.. we are young blooded nurses.. we rock!!! hahaha.. lol.. really its my biggest dream to study in curtin if only they have 6 month BP i grab it already but i was late.. that was my first plan taking BP in curtin for 6 months but now they dont offer it anymore.. well the only permanent in this world is change. goodluck friend see ya in Oz if i will have an opportunity to go there.. God speed.. Fly high Filipino Nurses.. we are lucky because we are Filipino Nurses....
