New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

heyy! hihi congrats again! :yeah: i was asking everyone and that includes u :yeah:

i just had a chit chat with aelith and she mentioned about a form.. i dunno.. how about you?? did u submit a stat dec letter to nbv? (if u have no experience) thanks!!!

i meant i was not asked for a statutory letter or something even if i don't have work experience :)

wow! chabeli! super congrats!

good luck in aus! do keep in touch and update us here! :)

yes, i will :) i"m getting an hp mini notebook later so i can continue to get online even while there in aus :) my gf will continue to post here since she has nothing to do while i'm in school :):twocents:

thanks chabeli.... im positive both of you can find a job... i know someone who just finished her BP and she said its not difficult to look for jobs there especially if you are a nurse... goodluck! you dont have any experience too? oh, by the way, did you send the prescribed fee for processing with your application? by credit card too or cheque? do they process applications even if you dont have IELST? i'll be taking mine on Feb.11. i was wondering if it would be better to pass my applications and just forward my IELTS resullt after.

yup i did evrything through credit card coz it's a lot faster. there are some schools though who do not accept credit card.

Good luck Chabeli and gf.. Please do keep us posted when you get there..we cant wait to hear from your experiences and hopefully your stories of success will help those still waiting and nearly going crazy due to the waiting ..

chabeli, u flyin today???

safe trip to u!!!

Hi People!!!

Just want to share that my student visa processing took only 2 weeks thru IDP Manila. Remember that all documents should be notarized as certified true copies. You should also back up your financial documents with affidavits explaining how you got the money (bank docs), Should be at least 6 months in the bank..If your sponsor has a current job,Proof of income is very important (current payslip, tax, certificate of employment etc.) I think now you need a show money of 18kAUD ( I'm not sure)

I hope this helps.. :)

chabeli, u flyin today???

safe trip to u!!!

on the 29th yet.. i got our tickets yesterday...

still waiting for monday so i caan call PMC and ask the affiliated schools/unis.

anyone here applying for south australia? gee, victoria seems to be one of the 'must-work-there" places....

hi ryan.... what is PMC? im planning to take BP in la trobe hopefully next year.. i know someone in australia & she said nurses Are needed there.. certifications ( IV training, BLS, etc) will help a lot in job hunting too... i have the idea on how to go about with the application but still clueless on whats next.. she said that 3 weeks before they end their BP, they started job hunting already.

PMC is like an agency or company that mainly cater overseas filipino nurses, they help nurses in gaining qualifications in OZZZZ...

certification in IV or BLS in the philippines arent recognized in Oz(i think)...as they have their own trainings here...(but just double check it)...

yerr right! start looking for a job before the BP ends or during the duration of the program..doesnt matter if its a primary, secondary, tertiary or nursing home as long a you will get hired and the employer is willing to sponsor you;)

regardng Stat Dec, dont provide it if youre not told to do so...in my case i was asked to make a signed letter (made by myself) stating the reasons and blah blah blah :D and signed then submitted...:D

again, dont provide it if youre not told to do so...dont confuse yourself..

by the way nurses,

just to remind of you of the opening days and hours of the NBV this yuletide season :D

i passed by the NBV office today and here i found:

december 24 opening hours ---8.30-12 noon..

january 4 ---back to normal...
