Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
hi yayey, how much is the tuition and for how long is the BP at curtin?
Hello anyad,
Just wanted to add a few info re your query since I am done with this process and fervently waiting for my visa approval..
You will qualify for the 6 months bridging program at Curtin Uni once you obtain a letter of eligibility from the NMBWA. Once you have this, you can apply at Curtin for the program but you must have a minimum of 6 months clinical experience. However, there's one member here in the forum (armiRN) who got accepted in the program without hospital experience. So I guess it is a case to case basis since I lodged my application thru IDP Cebu.
As for the tuition fee, I paid $11,690au inclusive of OSHC. Did this transaction thru credit card but you may also transact your payment via telegraphic transfer or bank draft however, the former is more convenient to use.
If you decide to pursue your Bridging course at Curtin then I would highly recommend that you seek the assistance of IDP Philippines. Service is absolutely FREE and saves you a lot of time and money as well:up:
Ajah!

hello all, ive been reading this thread searching for comments about ANSM- ASNC. i've read some, and this post made by ciao_88 last may 2009 has caught my attention."Right, ANSM is a legitimate consultancy/migration agent but it's not registered with POEA. One of the staff of POEA that I phoned explained that this firm is legitimate to do migration consultancies but not with offering jobs because they are not registered wih POEA to do so. That's the reason I and other 7 friends withdrawn from this firm because there is no job offer, as explained by POEA. But this is still an individualized decision, it varies per peson, but in the long run.... good luck to all of us:coollook:"
i asked the agency about this and they replied that we are going to aus to study, and we are not leaving the Philippines on a job order or with a confirmed job so it is not with POEA.
Can anyone give me their views concerning this? i would like to know if such a reply is adequate to this concern. and if what the agency is doing is legal. hope to hear from anyone soon :) thank you :)
that right, I too encountered this agency and inquired directly at POEA and was advised to just take the CAS pathway myself. Good luck to all of us.
hello ciao_88, so how are you doing with your QNC application? have you already taken the part a? or are you in australia already? :) :) i am thinking of applying by myself, however i know that australia will be changing requirements by 2010. i somehow feel pressed for time, if i decide to go about things myself, there's a bigger chance for mistakes, and i feel there is little time to correct them. what are your views on this? thank you so much for replying to my post :)
ive known a couple of nurses who were offered with this program but decided not to pursue it as this program will cost you $20K plus (if my memory serves me right)....and they (latrobe) only require 6.5 overall band score of ielts...are you sure? try to go to latrobe.edu.au search for master in nursing. i actually have contacted them a month ago. and its one year master in nursing program for overseas nurses. just jump on to their website and know it for yourself..
or better ring them...
or maybe you are right, since i have contacted them a month or a month and a half ago maybe things have changed...but for those who are interested, just go to their website or better ring them to confirm it for yourself...:)
Yes, ryan, I am sure. |'ve been here in Au since June and there's no masters of nursing science offered for 1 year. Certificate is offered for 6 mos and diploma for a year. The masters require elective and will never be offered for a year. I do not wish to offend anybody but what you are saying is a plain hearsay. If you have the link from la trobe, please let us know and post it here. I also would not want to spoil the atmosphere but if you do not have the experience it would be very difficult to land a job here in Australia as the economic climate is still down.

Actually, I have a sister who lives in Geraldton. She was the one who convinced me to try my luck in Australia despite the fact that I am a newly registered nurse. I've been hearing a lot of discouraging news regarding jobs in Au but that did not stop me from trying.Nothing will happen to you if you are scared and if you don't take risks. It's a global recession. If that fact will stop you, that's your decision. But for me, I am going to study hard, work hard and pray hard that all my sacrifices will be worth it. Think Positive!!:loveya:

ive been here in australia for years now.and i beg to disagree..and im not here in allnurses to tell lies and nothing but lies...as what ive posted previous page ago, go to latrobe.edu.au or ring them for you to know it personally...im sure ive rang them a month or a month and a half ago to enquire about it...and you have misunderstood me, im talking about master of nursing not master of nursing science
well, if you think that thats only a hearsay, sorry but not for me...cos i confirmed it myself and im not insane not to understand our conversion with the personnel of latrobe...ring la trobe uni and ask them...
about the job thingy, maybe you are right, but most of the filipino nurses i know who have finished their BPs are already working here...so lets not generalize everything and everyone...each one of us are entitled to have their own opinion but not to generalize.. what i was trying to imply was my own knowledge and experience...and i respect yours...good luck.
ahoo! this is really getting hot!
may i ask something? esp those in VIC
after doing the BP course on student visa. The next step is to get a job/employer/sponsor, right? (a stage that may be hard for others but not for some, i suppose)
and the student visa will then be converted to residence permit, right? is this the procedure?
