Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Thanks for the info Ryan,Im in Maidstone, just near Footscray.
YES, I will be going to the Filipino Fiesta here in Victoria. Im longing to see fellow Filipino RNs here.
I had some revision of my plans re doing BP here, I opted to study Bachelor in Nursing in ACU Melbourne, anyway they do credit many of my subjects from the Philippines. I did this because I have no experience and afraid to go back to the Philippines after doing 3 months BP and no sponsored me for a work.
I plan to apply for PR after 2 yrs studies, anyway I can work as PCA here while studying. The problem is, I cant still find work here.
Best of luck guys...
hello farah! good fine morning to you. i'll just ask if you are a second courser. coz i am a second courser and is afraid to do the BP and im not yet confident enough. same as you are i dont have any nursing experience.
how much is the cost for studying BN n nursing? pls give me any info on in matter.
thanks

hey, can you PM me of your exact situation and your reasons why you opted to do a course rather than doing the BP...im a bit confused. i might suggest you of a better way.
actually like what ive said here before la trobe bundoora campus is offering 1 year of Master in Nursing program for overseas nurses. after finishing this course you can apply for a registration in victoria.

This is confusing as there is no master of nursing program offered for just a year in any university in Australia. The masters of nursing science (MNS) is a full time study for 2 years and will include electives as well. The conversion program which takes a year has been discontinued in all states. To upgrade into BN an overseas RN can study for 2 years full time. If one is exceptionally talented the MNS pathway can also lead to registration but this is only offered by some of the prestigious universities in Australia like University of Melbourne, University of Queensland and the University of Western Australia. The MNS is an intricate pathway for overseas RNs who doesn't have a clear picture of the Australian healthcare context.

ive known a couple of nurses who were offered with this program but decided not to pursue it as this program will cost you $20K plus (if my memory serves me right)....and they (latrobe) only require 6.5 overall band score of ielts...

or maybe you are right, since i have contacted them a month or a month and a half ago maybe things have changed...but for those who are interested, just go to their website or better ring them to confirm it for yourself...:)

hello jayBadette and Ryan,
Yes, Im a second courser too. I have only 6 months volunteer experience, so I opted the BN pathway, so no need to go back in PI after graduating as I am eligible to apply for Graduate Skilled Visa (because of 2 yrs study) then eventually PR Visa.
I spent $8,920 for 1 sem tuition. Quite expensive...
Hey jayBadette, you are working as PCA, right? Im also applying for a PCA position, but no luck yet. Can you PM me the Nursing Agency youre working for? It wll be a great help to me. Thanks in advance.
@Ryan, Ive called up the agency, and just told me that there's no vacancy for PCA's. Anyway, thanks...
Today is the Filipino Fiesta in VIC. I will be going there later.
