Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
Hi zstsc, its really hard to backread as pages already reached 300+! but have some patience, backreading will help you a lot.
BP stands for bridging program, its a short course done in Australia when you received a go signal from the board(Victoria, Western Aus. etc, except Queensland).
CAS is Competence assessment service, only Queensland offer this if they approve your application. it consist of challenge test and/or modules.
EN, EEN, Division 2 are just the same, they all pertain to licensed practical/assistant nurses if im not mistaken.
Division 1 are registered nurses in Victoria.
You have first to choose which state in Australia you want to apply, eg. Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia. You can check out their websites for you to decide. They have almost the same application procedures. They accept nurses with no work experinece. You just passed the board last june, just keep in mind that you need the PRC Board Certificate to file your application.
Good luck!
thanks sashi..
i prefer brisbane..
i also have my prc board certificate and license.
what next?
***
only i know is that, to be a RN (not EN) in Aus is only by these 2 ways..
1. take a pre-registered nursing course in aus
2. take the CAS program
***
is there any other ways?
What's the bridging program? is this another way? im quite confused.
zstsc, since your documents are complete and you prefer brisbane, please visit the Queensland Nursing Council and CAS-CQU websites. you'll find the application forms and procedure there. In queensland, they dont have bridging program, they offer CAS, in which you have a choice either to take the part A challenge test or home study modules(theoretical). after successfully completing the first part, you'll have a month of clinical duty in queensland.
Bridging programs are only offered in other states, not Queensland.
Just a note, the PRC board certificate/certificate of registration is the one which looks like a diploma with your picture in it, not the certificate with your score.
Hi badbach, im still here in the philippines, i was just given approval letter from Nurses Board of Victoria, hope to be in Aus next year. :wink2:
My advise is to check the websites of the different boards/councils so you can weigh things. Complete the requirements now, they said that national registration will take place July 2010, we dont know what are the changes.
I just sent my applications to both QNC and Victoria..and i know it used to be fast but i was wondering who was the last person in the forum to receive their assessment from both QNC and Victoria. Is the processing still 1 month or does it take longer nowadays ? Sent mine Oct 9, will should expect to hear from them? Which is faster QNC or VIC?
@Congrats Chabeli... Was La Trobe your only choice ??
aw.. i don't have that prc board cert. i have the cert of scores.. :c
and may i ask for examples of bridging programs? and where are these?
what is la trobe and deakin?
and may i also ask.. if you had finished the CAS course / bridging program..
can i easily apply at the hospitals in australia? or will they still require working experience?
***
because right now..
1. im thinking of taking the CAS course or bridging program.. but
i am not sure, if whether when i have finished, i can easily apply for staff nurse in the hospitals..
2. my last resort is to apply for a BN course there in australia.. because it is very expensive..
but is this assured that you can now easily apply in the hospitals there?

i'm very new here at allnurses.. while im back reading, i saw a lot of useful posts on regarding how a newly grad filipino nurse wanting to work in australia and nz.. but im quite confused of the terms and abbrev.. you used here.
like BP, CAS, EN, EEN, Div 1, Div 2.. etc.
MY STATUS:
** im a newly grad filipino nurse. graduate of april 2009
** i have passed the June 2009 NLE here in phils.
** i have NO working experience. NO volunteer experience.
because im quite having trouble in finding a job as a nurse here in manila.. almost all hospitals are closed for
recruitment. and if there is a hospital that is open. tremendous amount of applicants are rushing in. last time i
had applied.. we, 600 applicants, took the entrance exam for the hospital. and sad to say only 30-40 will be
hired. :C very low chance on passing.. yet i havent said about the interview screens for that.
** i haven't taken my IELTS
** i want to work in preferrably in Australia as a nurse.. what will be better? RN/EN/EEN.. for me as a fresh board passer with no EXP?
** i had orientations of these study and work programs abroad. namely australia, canada, UK. but they seemed to
offer caregiver courses.. where in, you will pay about 500K for every year of the course. lodging, food and expenses not shouldered. you can work part time for 20hours as a caregiver, while you study courses like:
"Certificate III in Community Services Work", or
"Certificate IV in Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 nursing)", or other courses..
I am looking for your suggestions on how will i become a registered nurse in australia regarding my status
of being a Fresh board passer without any experience.
i just heard about these bridging programs here.. is there a step by step process? i quite finding difficulty backreading.
I am hoping for your replies.. Thanks!
